Putting on the glitz! Meryl Streep sparkles up her simple blue silk dress with a very blingy necklace at gala to benefit Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation

She's always immaculately dressed.

And with awards season heating up, Meryl Streep looked as beautiful as ever as she celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation at its Magical Evening Gala on Thursday.

The 66-year-old arrived at New York's upscale eatery Cipriani Wall Street in an elegant knee-length blue silk frock with strips of black sequins running down both sides and bell sleeves.

And she dressed up the A-line garment with a very blingy necklace that featured large black stones surrounded by sparkly diamonds with matching earrings.

Meryl smoothed her blonde hair back into a ponytail, showing off her perfectly made-up face as she peered through her trendy, cat-eye frame, prescription glasses.

She completed her ensemble with black tights and black ankle booties.

Slip into an embellished shift dress like Meryl

Meryl Streep may well be 66-years-old but that certainly does not hold her back in the style stakes. She's not afraid to wear statement gowns, lots of bling or show a small amount of skin on occasion either.

But here at the 25th anniversary gala for the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, Meryl worked geek chic style in her slick glasses and embellished shift dress. The dress was subtle yet sparkly, our favorite combination and by teaming with tights and booties it really gave it a contemporary twist.

Meryl's style is always bang-on and she proved that here in her Stella McCartney number. The dress is actually sold out now, but if you click right you'll be directed to Farfetch where you'll find a huge array of the designer's pieces.
