He's met his match! Tom Cruise, 53, and Cobie Smulders, 33, run side-by-side during action scene shot in New Orleans for Jack Reacher sequel

Tom Cruise has rarely been paired with a female co-star that is allowed to be as physically active on screen as he is.

But the 53-year-old action star seems to have met his match with Cobie Smulders, best known for her TV show How I Met You Mother.

The Oscar nominee worked hard to keep up with the 33-year-old brunette beauty as they filmed a scene for the Jack Reacher sequel in New Orleans on Thursday.

Smulders joined in on the chuckling as she crossed her ankles.

The TV icon was having so much fun, she fell down, barely able to contain her giggles.

But the vets then collected themselves and got back into character soon enough.

Tom was dressed in head to toe dark colors.

The Top Gun vet had on a blue jacket over a black shirt with deep blue jeans. Black boots made him look ready for combat.

Cobie looked pale in her light beige T shirt, camo slacks and construction boots.

The mother of two has been wearing the same look all week.

Jack Reacher 2 is set to debut on October 21, 2016, according to a September report from Deadline.

Tom's Last Samurai director Edward Zwick is at the helm with Marshall Herskovitz re-doing Richard Wenk’s script.

The movie is based on Lee Childs' book. The first Jack Reacher, which came out in 2012, was an impressive overseas success. Reacher is a former MP who investigates crimes.

Tom's last film Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation made close to $480m worldwide to date.
