She is usually the demure epitome of classic dressing.

Yet the risqué gown Katie Derham sported for her steamy Strictly Come Dancing rumba last weekend prompted many at home to tell her she had revealed too much.

Yet the BBC Proms presenter discovered the scanty number was a hit with her restauranteur husband, John Vincent – and her mother-in-law who has urged her to buy it so she can ‘show it off’.

However the 45-year-old mother of two has said she prefers the flowing ballroom gowns over the slinky Latin numbers, as they make her feel like a Disney princess.

Talking ahead of Saturday night's show from the Blackpool Tower Ballroom, Katie disclosed the black and red dress she wore for her rumba divided opinion amongst viewers.

She said: ‘The dress I had last week with the rhumba, wow I got so many comments about. It was hilarious, most of them were complimentary, although I think a few were like, "Oh I think we saw more of her than we wanted to see".
