Queen Rania opted for a flowing mid-length number cinched in with a statement gold belt.
The dress's pockets, collar and cuffs were embroidered with a matching black and white pattern, and she held a silver clutch back.
Her hair was swept back into a low chignon and her open-toe shoe-boots added a trendy edge to the sophisticated outfit.
Queen Letizia meanwhile donned a glittery knee-length dress, which showed off her slim figure and waist with a wide black band.
She kept the look sleek, accessorising with black patent heels, a satin clutch, and a similar up-do to Rania's.
The duo were joined at the official dinner at El Pardo Palace in Madrid by Rania's husband, Jordanian King Abdullah II, Letizia's husband, King Felipe, and his parents, former King Juan Carlos and former Queen Sofia.
The two women clearly had plenty to catch up on and were immediately engrossed in conversation, walking together and leaning in to have a good natter

Earlier today as they met at the airport, mother-of-two Letizia, stunned in an elegant dress in a bold red hue.
The Spanish royal offset her look with a matching red clutch and bold stilettos. She wore her bobbed hair in tight curls to welcome the Queen of Jordan.
Mother-of-four Rania, meanwhile, opted for a trendier outfit and donned a red and white wrap coat with blue pockets and a matching clutch.
She wore her long brunette locks in bouncy curls as she touched down at Madrid's Barajas Adolfo Suarez airport with her husband, King Abdallah II of Jordan, for a two-day visit.
Be a vision in red with a shift dress like Letizia
Now these two women look ready to conquer anything the world might throw at them. Queen Letizia and Queen Rania are exuding the most chic and confident aesthetics in their achingly stylish ensembles.
Queen Rania is a delivering her classic, conservative, working-woman's finesse in a sharp coat dress whilst Queen Letizia has added some sass into proceedings with a red hot dress.
We've seen this Felipe Varela bouclé wool paneled sheath dress before- and adored it. We love the sophisticated silhouette and the bouclé which is designed to achieve a figure-flattering look.
It's always too easy to slip into a safe navy or black number so why not take direction from this number by shopping the look below? Wear with co-ordinated pumps for a streamlined finish.

They then joined their husbands to pose for a series of photographs at the airport.
Queen Rania was later seen at the Prado Media Lab cultural center, which is a hub of cultural research, experimentation and exploration in Madrid.
And like a true fashionista, she had a second stylish outfit at the ready.
She teamed a shin-length leather pencil skirt with a cream silky blouse with a simple square pattern, nipped-in cuffs and a black neck tie.
Black high heels were made interesting with an angular vamp, while her cream handbag and tousled waves completed the look.

Queen Letizia has been keeping as busy as ever and attended the National Sports Awards earlier this week in a figure-hugging £615 Felipe Varela dress.
The 43-year-old joined husband King Felipe VI, 47, at the El Pardo Palace in Madrid, Spain, wearing a tweed round-neck, three-quarter-length-sleeved print dress in shades of blue, brown and cream.
Sporting a sleek shoulder-brushing bob, Letizia accessorised the dress, which is from the Spanish designer's pre-fall collection, with blue and yellow gemstone drop earrings and black patent pointed-toe heels.
The royal couple were at the National Sports Awards to present trophies, including the King Felipe award, to sportsmen and women and event organisers.
King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia were also in attendance at the annual awards, which the Spanish royal family sponsors.
Queen Rania also turned heads as she arrived at the inauguration of Jordan's Parliament this fortnight. Pictured: Today in Madrid

Likewise, Queen Rania turned heads as she arrived at the inauguration of Jordan's Parliament this fortnight.
Rania, 45, arrived to see her husband King Abdullah II gave a throne speech at the session in Amman, Jordan.
The Queen of Jordan chose a high-necked top and a structured midi-skirt in a striking geometric pattern for the occasion.
Rania is a devout Muslim and always respects the modesty guidelines of her religion, choosing a midi-skirt and long-sleeved top but she kept it glamorous with radiant makeup and plenty of volume in her hair.
