Ant and Dec forced to apologise after live TV gaffe sees Vicky Pattison dealt loser's forfeit on I'm A Celeb - despite WINNING Bushtucker Trial

Live TV is always fraught with potential problems.

But it seems that's particularly true if you're filming in the Australian outback - as Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly discovered on Friday's I'm A Celebrity.

The pair were forced to apologise after a technical fault saw contestant Vicky Pattison suffer a loser's forfeit, despite winning her Bushtucker Trial.

The Geordie Shore star was dunked into dirty - and rather fishy - water as part of the show's first-ever group challenge, which saw all participants compete simultaneously.

Poised upon a trap door above the water, each camp-mate was forced into a cocktail-drinking race - except the ingredients included blended pigs brain and camel penis.

Keen to succeed, Vicky downed hers in impressive time - leaving Jorgie Porter to face the wet consequences.

But, unfortunately, a technical fault saw Vicky dunked instead.

Clearly unimpressed, she appeared angry at the mix-up, which left Ant and Dec forced to intervene in case she wore on the real-time broadcast.

Red-faced by the blunder, the presenting duo tried to gloss over the gaffe, but it was clearly a low-point in the episode.

Not that it was the only drama in the show, of course.

Dragon Den's star Duncan Bannatyne finally aired his true feelings on Lady C, telling Kieron: 'Lady C leaving for a while might be a welcome relief for a lot of people.'

Referring to her imminent trial departure, he added: 'This is not an emotional goodbye for me. I’m quite happy to see the back of her to be honest.'

Lady C, however, was not surprised she was chosen to do another trial by the public. 'I’m actually thinking I should refuse to do anything,' she said, before being encouraged by Vicky.

'The public love you, they want to see more of you. D on’t cut your nose off to spite your face!'.

However, something Vicky thinks people definitely shouldn't see more of is her having sex on screen. The brunette media personality made the admission in a frank conversation with Susannah Constantine during Friday's episode of the jungle competition.

The former Geordie Shore star, 28, publicly revealed her regret in a frank exchange with the fashion expert.

'It is, what it is, it’s car crash TV essentially and I enjoyed doing it when I was younger but when I got slightly older, I thought I’m not sure I can do this,' said Vicky. 'It’s supposedly youth culture. I had sex on TV and I regret that massively, it was one of those things.'

But that didn't stop Ferne McCann's feelings for George Shelley amping up a notch. Specifically, the TOWIE star said she actively enjoys 'cuddling' the Union J singer.

The 25 year-old used a private bathing session to admit her feelings for the chart-topper, but refused to admit that she fancied him.

'I like cuddling him,' she said. 'He's always up for cosy time and we get on really well.'

However, Vicky was not convinced, saying: 'I don't believe you. Let me ask again in a few days...you're smiling!'.

Meanwhile, Lady Colin Campbell, Jorgie Porter and Brian Friedman took part in yet another eerie challenge, which saw them having to count critters using only their mouths.

The trial, joyfully titled 'Every Critter Counts' is set in the format of a chirpy game show, though once the real origin of the challenge is uncovered, the celebrities worst fears are confirmed.

'OK, in this round, you will have 60 seconds to try and identify how many critters are in your mouth,' host Declan Donnelly explains.

Seemingly hoping to have misheard him, Lady C interjects, 'Mouth?' to which Ant reaffirms.

'You will only be using your tongue and lips here,' Dec continues, before adding: 'We need you to tip your heads back, open your mouths and the time will only start when all of the critters have been loaded.'

Following on from Dec's instructions, the three camp mates are then blindfolded before the insects are poured into their mouths.

Despite her initial shock, Jamaica-born writer Lady Colin - who claimed to enjoy the taste of crocodile penis during her first Bushtucker Trial - doesn't appear too put out by the challenge, keeping her mouth closed and focusing on the wriggling critters inside of her mouth.

Choreographer Brian appears a lot less at ease with the whole thing as he refuses to close his lips, instead prodding occasionally at the bugs before shouting out: 'OK, I'm good!'

But it looks to be Jorgie who struggles the most as she screeches throughout the challenge before claiming that one of the bugs had bit her as they were unloaded from her mouth.

Lady Colin's cool demeanor may come as a surprise to viewers, given that the 66-year-old point-blank refused to even begin her last Bushtucker Trial which required her to crawl through a tunnel to a pit where she'd be trapped for 10 minutes in a task aptly titled Panic Pit.

The TV personality claimed the underground activity would aggravate bad memories of her cousin who was murdered by 'being buried alive'.

Explaining her decision, the Jamaican-born socialite told lovable Geordie duo Ant and Dec: 'I'm not starting it, sorry. I have a cousin who was murdered by being buried alive, I'm not doing anything that is coffin like or involves coffins.'

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! airs Friday at 9pm on ITV
