Katie Holmes brought a touch of class to the WWD And Variety inaugural stylemakers' event.

The 36-year-old actress was dressed elegantly in all black as she arrived for the gala held in the Culver City neighbourhood of Los Angeles on Thursday.

Also at the star-studded gathering were Kourtney Kardashian, Kerry Washington and Freida Pinto but the mother of Suri definitely had the most tasteful look of them all.

Katie looked lovely in an all black look including silk shirt with the sleeves rolled up tucked into a geometrically patterned midi skirt and matching leather heels.

The Batman Begins actress accessorised the look with gold bracelets and a matching ring.

The ex Mrs Tom Cruise wore her straight, brunette tresses down and kept the dark theme going with heavy mascara and eyeliner to go along with shiny lip.

It was no wonder why the Dawson's Creek vet looked so chic as she has a keen interest in fashion and even created the Holmes/Yang line in 2008, which is now dismantled.

Katie definitely kept up with a Kardashian when it came to style as Kourtney continued to show off her toned post-breakup figure at the same event.

The 36-year-old Keeping Up With The Kardashians star stunned at the event in a curve-hugging green top and skirt combination.

The ex-partner of Scott Disick looked absolutely radiant her suede sleeveless number that had a flirty slit up the left side of her leg.

Kourtney Kardashian always manages to underplay her ensembles and ends up coming out on top. The eldest, most educated of the sisters generally refrains from the over-the-top looks that Kim, Khloe and Kylie tend to favor.

Here, case in point. She attended a WWD Variety event in Culver City on Thursday in an olive suede two-piece set. Very simple. High impact.

The coordinates are by Alice + Olivia and, although you can't quite see it here, Kourtney's top is cropped and has a fierce racer-back that exposes plenty of back with a contrasting zip running down the middle. Love!

This is a tough color to pull off and Kourtney does it beautifully with almost no accessories, save for the Cartier bracelet on her right wrist and black suede pumps. Well done!
