The released statements at the time, with Anna saying she and her parents knew about Josh's early teen transgressions, which were believed to be isolated in the past.

'When my family and I first visited the Duggar home, Josh shared his past teenage mistakes,' Anna said at the time.

'I was surprised at his openness and humility and at the same time didn't know why he was sharing it. For Josh, he wanted not just me but my parents to know who he really was – even every difficult past mistakes.'

She also credited religion, saying her husband 'had humbled himself before God and those whom he had offended.'

But then it got much worse.

Then his name appeared in the hack of adultery website Ashley Madison in August.

Josh hasn't been since since August, when it is believed he checked into a spiritually-focused addiction in Illinois.

He publicly apologized for a pornography addiction and cheating on his wife after his named appeared in the Ashley Madison hack.

Meanwhile Anna has appeared occasionally in the social feeds of her sister in laws, in the background, and her baby Meredith has been spotted too, lending observers to believe that even with husband in exile out of state, she and their four children are still spending a great deal of time with the Duggars.

But it could get worse, still

Earlier this week, porn star Ashley Stamm-Northup, known as Danica Dillon, sued Josh, claiming the reality TV star assaulted her on two occasions when consensual sex turned rough. Dillon says she met Duggar at a Philadelphia strip club.

He was at the time employed with an arm of the conservative family values lobbying group the Family Research Council, where he worked from 2013 to 2015.
