These mesmerising photos were taken by intrepid Sri Lankan photographer Suranga Weeratunga, 34, inside Iceland's Vatnajokull Glacier, one of Europe's largest glaciers. They capture a tour guide casting hundreds of sparks of fire on to the cold cave floor (main) amid walls of emerald ice (inset). They also reveal thick an array of intricate patterns and breathtaking colours, as well as layers of black volcanic ash. Mr Weeratunga, from Sri Lanka, is among hundreds of tourists annually to brave the network of caves in Vatnajökull, also known as the Vatna Glacier.
