They were Hollywood's quirkiest couple for a long while before their amicable split last year.

And it seems that Helena Bonham Carter and her ex-partner Tim Burton are still getting on famously, as they proved on a family outing in London with their two children on Saturday.

Heading into the luxurious and leafy area of Hampstead with their son, Billy Raymond, 12, and daughter, Nell, seven, the 49-year-old actress and the director looked the picture of a happy family.

Taking some time out of their busy schedules to spend some quality time as a family unit, the Suffragette star and her estranged partner, 57, looked perfectly at ease in each other's company.

And despite the capital's cold weather, the former couple and their children seemed to be enjoying their time together.

Wrapping up against the frigid breeze, Helena showcased her unique style, as she teamed a large red checked flannel coat with a grey jumper.

The Alice In Wonderland star teamed her seasonally appropriate top with a pair of fitted grey wool trousers.

Adding some height to her petite frame, Helena rounded her outfit off with a pair of chunky-heeled boots.

Sticking to her winter theme, the Sweeney Todd actress accessorised with a fur scarf and a black satchel bag - while she was also spotted varying a small canary yellow tote.

Wearing her dark locks tied back in a loose bun, Helena showcased her striking natural features as she only wore a minimal pallet of make-up for the relaxed family outing.

Tim meanwhile rocked his customary understated gothic look, teaming a black overcoat with jeans and leather shoes.

Adding a touch of uncustomary colour to his look, the Nightmare Before Christmas director accessorised with a scarf to keep the cold at bay.

Last month, in an interview with Red magazine Helena spoke for the first time about the split.

In the chat she admitted has not ruled out getting back together with the acclaimed film director.

Speaking about the end of her 13-year relationship with Burton, Miss Bonham Carter described their relationship as ‘special’ and hinted a reconciliation may yet be a possibility.

The BAFTA award-winning star said: ‘I think it’ll always remain special [their relationship]. We did find each other. We gave each other children and a lot more else. And we might be better and still be able to give to each other but not necessarily living together.’

The eccentric pair initially claimed their separation was amicable but it was later reported Burton, 57, was involved in a long-term relationship with Bernice Percival, a blonde production assistant he was pictured embracing.

The couple met in 2001 while filming Planet of the Apes and despite their long-term love the pair never married.
