Barbarians stars pay homage to founder by posing in retro kit ahead of 125-year anniversary encounter with Argentina

The Barbarians class of 2015 have turned back the clock as they mark their 125-year anniversary from when they were founded.

The Baa Baas face this year's Rugby World Cup semi-finalists Argentina at Twickenham on Saturday afternoon.

And ahead of that fixture, Michael Cheika's side have paid homage to their founder William Percy Carpmael.

Images released on Thursday show current stars such as Australia captain Stephen Moore, veteran South Africa lock Victor Matfield and New Zealand Rugby World Cup winner Nehe Milner-Skudder pose in the kit - which is akin to the jersey's first worn in 1890.

Accompanied with a pig-skin rugby ball, the anniversary kits are emblazoned with '1890-2015' underneath the Baa Baas' badge - set to a grainy black and white backdrop.

Moore goes one step further in his pose by sporting a handlebar moustache - in a nice ode to Carpmael's style of facial hair.

Cheika will be hoping his side can mark Saturday's special occasion against Argentina with a win.

On Wednesday night, the Australia head coach saw his star-studded Barbarian squad begin their preparations for the weekend in the perfect manner with a convincing 62-14 win over a rookie Gloucester side.

Cheika fielded a side of World Cup stars from the southern hemisphere with 573 caps' worth of international experience against a second-string team of youngsters, with predictable results as the visitors ran in 10 tries at Kingsholm.

Wallabies wing Joe Tomane touched down twice, with Fiji's Nemani Nadolo, All Blacks Nehe Milner-Skudder, Ryan Crotty and Waisake Naholo, South Africa's Lood de Jager and Pat Lambie, and uncapped New Zealanders Ardie Savea and Tawera Kerr-Barlow supplying the tries.

Gloucester flanker Dan Thomas scored an opportunist first-half effort and his side claimed a second-half penalty try when the Barbarians pulled down a driving maul.
