Murray thanked fans for their support in his social media message and revealed he had practiced for two-and-a-half hours on court on Sunday.

He wrote: 'Back to work today... 2 and half hours on court and a versa climber session at home...Thanks for all the the messages of support on social media today and for seeing today's criticism for exactly what it was #bitter #backthebrits'

Murray's message came after former Davis Cup captains, brothers David and John Lloyd, spoke to Sportsmail about what they reckon are the failings of the LTA, how the tournament has lost its lustre and why Murray can be a nightmare to manage.

Meanwhile, The British No 1 was meant to fly over to Belgium on Sunday but Great Britain delayed their departure by 24 hours.

The team plan, instead, on travelling to Ghent on Monday morning, with the match ready to go ahead despite the high security situation in the country's capital Brussels - only 35 miles away from the final's venue.

Former British No 1 Tim Henman has already cancelled plans to go to Belgium this week and watch the Davis Cup final due to security fears.

Henman, married with three daughters, explained his decision on Sunday night, saying: 'I was going to go but I am not going any more.

'I was going to take the three girls, I was going to go with my family. With the train and the going over there, I just thought: 'Is it really worth the hassle for them?' So we are going to be watching at home.'
