He recently returned to Australia, rejoining his beloved South Sydney Rabbitohs Rugby League team after ending his multi-million dollar contract with English Rugby Union team Bath.

And it looks as if Sam Burgess is planning on staying put in Sydney for the foreseeable future.

The 26-year-old footballer has wasted no time finding a new home for himself and his glamourous fiancée Phoebe Hook, with the couple making plans to move into their new multi-million dollar Bondi Beach pad in the new year.

The apartment which is ironically located in the heart of his team's arch rival Sydney Rooster's territory, was purchased by Sam off plan in 2012, and is almost finished.

The couple plan to set up home in the beachfront abode which boast 180-degree views of the waterfront early next year, after they marry.

Sam bought the apartment in the prestigious new The Pacific glamour development, which was originally the iconic Swiss Grand Hotel.

It is believed the 190cm forward shelled out $2.1 million for the two-bedroom apartment in the plush new complex on Campbell Parade.

The vast residential, hotel and retail complex was in hot demand, with the first release of the 76 apartments were sold after more than 3,000 inquiries before the September 2012 sales launch.

Prices started at $575,000 for a 35 square metre beach studio, with a 50 square metre one-bedroom courtyard loft apartment starting at $700,000 and a two-bedroom starting at $1.1 million.

But it appears the property is well in Sam's affordable price range, with reports his Souths contract is worth a whopping $1.5 million a season.

Earlier this month Sam and Phoebe arrived back from the UK after Sam decided to leave the Bath team just 12 months into his three-year contract.

Discussing the move in a MailOnline column Sam wrote: 'My decision to leave Bath and move back to Australia was for personal reasons, but it was also because I wanted to spend the rest of my career playing the game that’s in my heart.

'Rugby league is in my heart. I’m looking forward to getting back to Sydney, where I’ll be with my family and playing for the Rabbitohs alongside my brothers again.'

The Bath coach claimed that Sam 'didn't have the stomach' to stay and fight for a future in the rugby union.

And touching on criticism he returned to Sydney to be closer to his mum Sam told a reporter: 'He’s entitled to say what he wants, but I think that’s more a reflection on him than on me,' Sam commented. 'What did he say? That I miss my mum? Who doesn’t miss their mum? I’m not afraid to say that.'

Meanwhile his brother George has opened up to Daily Mail Australia about Sam and Phoebe's upcoming nuptials, thought to be in December.

Speaking about being a groomsman he said: 'I'll probably say a few words. And work on my dance moves - probably dazzle a few people with that I think.'

'We got fitted out for suits the other day so it was pretty special. The whole families and friends are looking forward to the day and it's going to be such a great, great time for our family.'
