Doting father Tyrese Gibson makes an appearance on the red carpet with loveable daughter Shayla, seven, at the 2015 AMAs

He's famous for playing Hollywood hard men as well as topping the charts with his singing skills.

But Tyrese Gibson slipped into a different role on the red carpet at the 2015 American Music Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday evening, as he played the doting father to daughter Shayla.

Attending the star-studded event at the Microsoft Theatre with his seven-year-old, the Fast & Furious star, 36, played the doting father as he treated Shayla to an evening out with music royalty.

Hitting the red carpet in style, Tyrese couldn't help but smile as he and his only child mingled with stars on their way into the event.

Clearly delighted, and slightly in awe, with the chance to accompany her father on the red carpet, Shayla - Tyrese's only child with his ex-wife Norma - stuck close to her father's side.

Introducing his daughter to actress Kat Graham, Tyrese couldn't help but smile as his daughter admired the actress' flowing gown.

However Tyrese made sure that Shayla looked just as glamorous as any of the female stars attending the awards, with the budding fashionista  dressed in a gold embroidered dress and silver pumps.

Proving that she's just at home on the red carpet as her father, Shayla - along with her father - cosied up to The Vampire Diaries star, Kat, for a picture.

The actor and singer - who hit the number one spot with his sixth studio album, Black Rose, earlier this year - looked the epitome of a dapper gent in classic evening dress.

Opting for a grey two-piece, with black detailing on the lapels, the star rounded off his classic look with a crisp white shirt, black bow tie and a pair of black suede slip-ons.

Adding a touch of bling to his look, the Transformers star accessorised with a pair of diamond studs, a hefty gold watch and some bracelets.

Later on in the evening the father/daughter duo made a special appearance on-stage alongside From Dusk Till Dawn star Wilma Valderrama to present one of the evening's awards.

Making sure that his daughter was included in the presentation, Tyrese brought Shayla up on-stage alongside the That '70s Show actor.

Recipients of gongs at the event included Artist Of The Year winner's One direction, and Taylor Swift - who picked up awards for Song Of The Year and Favourite Artist in the Adult Contemporary genre.
