Sergio Ramos may have missed out on the opportunity to add to his 130 international caps due to injury, but the Spanish defender was still one of the happiest men in the world at the weekend.

Ramos and his girlfriend Pilar Rubio announced the birth of their second child Pilar Rubio via social media on Saturday.

And on Tuesday the couple were all smiles as they presented their son Marco to the world at Ruber Hospital.

Ramos and Rubio were pictured beaming with pride as they held their baby in their arms outside the Madrid-based building.

'Welcome, Marco. 3,2 kg. Natural birth. 10:40pm. Can’t express how happy we are,' Ramos tweeted on Saturday following the birth of Marco.

Saturday's life-changing moment saw Ramos and Rubio become parents together for the second time following the birth of Sergio Jr in May 2014.

Ramos, who has been dating Rubio for three years, will be hoping to celebrate becoming a father again with victory against Barcelona in La Liga at the weekend.

The Real Madrid captain is a doubt for the El Clasico encounter after injuring his shoulder during their 3-2 league defeat by Sevilla earlier this month.

Last week, in pictures published on his Instagram account, the 29-year-old can be seen putting himself through a variety of exercises in attempt to return to full fitness.

In the post Ramos wrote that he is 'Working tirelessly to come back as soon as possible.'

Ramos has a fiery history in El Clasico matches, having been sent off twice in the fixture during his Madrid career including the most recent match between the two sides, back in March.

That game ended in a 4-3 home defeat for Madrid - a result they will look to avenge on Saturday. Real Madrid lead the rivalry in head-to-head competition, with 92 wins to Barcelona's 89.
