Reading up on Ange? Brad Pitt can't resist a cheeky peek at MailOnline as he's glued to his phone during dinner with friends

Brad Pitt appeared to be glued to the MailOnline app while dining with friends on Sunday evening.

The 51-year-old actor appeared to be checking out the latest gossip on the Femail section of the site and had a smile on his face as he scrolled through during dinner at Zoo hotel's Grace restaurant in Charlottenburg, Berlin.

As the cell phone got passed around the table, Brad appeared to be rather tickled by something he had read, while waiting for his dinner and polishing off a glass of red wine.

It's currently unclear which story the actor was reading, but it's likely he was looking at a piece about either himself or his beautiful wife, Angelina Jolie.

Brad is in Germany, where he is filming his latest movie, War Machine, arriving with cast and crew at 10pm.

The movie, which is slated for release in 2016, is a satire of America's war with Afghanistan with a focus on the people running the campaign.

It also stars Will Poulter and Topher Grace, although they were not pictured on the night.

Brad appeared to be in high spirits on the night, wearing a bakerboy cap and a dark jacket, which he kept on throughout the meal.

He was later seen chatting to friends at the bar, as the grounded star mingled with other diners.

Despite his low-key profile, the actor's handsome looks were easy to spot as he made the most of the social occasion.

No doubt the star is keen to enjoy a little more success with War Machine than he did with his latest movie, By The Sea, in which he stars with Angelina.

The romantic drama has taken barely £300,000 at the box office and is being dropped by cinemas across the US.

Miss Jolie, 40, wrote and directed the film which is set in France in the 1970s and tells the story of the break-up of a couple, played by her and Brad.

Jolie and Pitt met and fell in love on the last film they made together, Mr and Mrs Smith in 2005. That took over £300million at the box office.

Jolie’s last effort as a director was the Second World War drama Unbroken, which made a respectable £100million.
