Happy homemaker! Katherine Heigl juggles fabrics as she begins nursery preparations for her second adopted child

Katherine Heigl has swapped the bright lights of film sets for something a little more down to earth.

The Knocked Up actress was seen juggling fabrics as she visited a haberdashery with her mother.

After the news last month that the Grey's Anatomy star and husband Josh Kelly are adopting their second child, perhaps Katherine is hoping to spin a creation on the sewing machine for the nursery.

In April, People reported that the couple were welcoming a new addition to the family, although 'no further details are available at this time.'

They already have Naleigh, three, known as Nancy, who they adopted from South Korea in 2009.

At the time, she said: 'Josh and I started talking about it (adoption) before we were even engaged.We have talked about having biological children, but we decided to adopt first. I’d like to adopt again.'

Dressing down for the occasion, Katherine resembled any other ordinary working mother in a simple grey T-shirt and black jeans, with her blonde hair pinned back.

She injected a hint of glamour with green peep-toe wedges and having applied some red lipstick.

The 33-year-old was seen talking to the shop assistant as well as being accompanied by her mother.

Busy bee Katherine has just finished filming The Big Wedding, alongside a star-studded cast of Robert De Niro, Amanda Seyfried and Diane Keaton.

The story tells the tale of a divorced couple who pretend to still be married as their family unites for a wedding.

She is also set to embark on new thriller Face Blind.

Deadline claim Heigl will stray from her usual rom-coms to play 'a psychologist struck with a rare affliction that makes it impossible to distinguish people by their faces'.
