Three sisters have revealed they have earned £75,000 worth of gifts from complete strangers simply by posting pictures of themselves online.

Lucy, 28, Sophie, 26, and Stacie Brooks, 25, from St Albans, Herts, have earned £75,000 from complete strangers just by posting images of themselves online.

They are part of the 'rinsing' craze sweeping the UK where men lavish gifts on their online muses - even though they will never meet in person.

So far the girls, who own a hair and beauty salon in St Albans have had designer shoes, handbags, laptops, iPads , luxury cosmetics, fresh flowers, a dining table and a staggering £15,000 pounds worth of gift cards all bestowed upon them by their thousands of online admirers.

Instead of a 'like' or 'retweet' fans of the girls' posts are directed to a wish list on Amazon where they can shower their virtual icon with a range of pre-selected products totalling thousands of pounds.

Single Sophie and her sisters, who both have boyfriends, haven’t met any of the men funding their bling lifestyles even though some spend hundreds a week.

Mother-of-one Lucy believes the girls are doing nothing wrong – despite admitting to occasional flirty phone calls.

The part-time model insisted: 'It’s not seedy. It’s hardly like we’re selling our bodies. We’re doing many of these men a favour. They love our pictures and tell us how fun we look. We brighten up their day, in an innocent way.

'We’d never meet or do anything sexual. We’re not like that. My boyfriend doesn’t have a problem with it. He thinks it’s funny, if anything. Although he’s stuck on what to get for Christmas as I already have so much.'

Lucy, the salon’s marketing manager, added: 'These men are harmless. Lots have things missing in their lives. Maybe they’re lonely or lack confidence. They don’t have a glamorous girl to treat at home, so they get a kick out of buying for us. It’s sweet.'

Stacie and Lucy insist the sisters remain popular because they show respect to their online admirers

Lucy received her first gift in 2010 when she started sharing pouty selfies on her Twitter account @lucy_anne. She said: 'It all started quite innocently. Someone sent a bottle of Marc Jacobs perfume.

'Then more men asked if they could treat me. Some asked if I had a wishlist on Amazon. I thought, ‘why not?’ I won’t lie, I want a nice life.'

Lucy, who now has 93,000 Twitter followers, shared photos of the trio after their salon opening in 2013 which prompted an unstoppable avalanche of attention and financial appreciation from an army of spectators.

She explained: 'Everyone commented on how alike we were, our big, blue eyes. It wasn’t just me. They wanted to buy my sisters presents too.'

But the attention came at a price with one over-zealous fan having to be issued with a restraining order after harassing the three sisters.

Hairdresser Sophie, a mum of two, who has many admirers on her account @sb88x said: 'It was really quite scary. We all blocked him on Twitter, but he made other accounts to contact us on.

'Then he rang Lucy to say he was in St Albans and was coming to the salon. We had to get the police involved and he got a restraining order.'

Most men are so smitten that they don’t ask anything in return. Lucy occasionally speaks to some on the phone.

She said: 'Some want to chat. I flirt, but there is a line they can’t cross.

'I never give the impression we’ll do anything but talk. I spoke to one man after his wife had died.

'He said I helped him through a tough time. He insisted on buying Vivienne Westwood bags and shoes. It made him feel good.'

Lucy insists the sisters remain popular because they show respect to their online admirers while others in a similar vocation have been known to dub the men who fund their lifestyles "pay pigs".

She added: “We know how lucky we are. What girl doesn’t love to be spoiled?

Some people might criticise us, but if someone sent them a beautiful new pair of shoes, would they return them? I doubt it. If men want to treat us, who are we to argue?”
