All wrapped up! Rebel Wilson wears tight ruched dress with silver foil fabric and carries giant lolly bag as she attends 2015 American Music Awards

She recently launched a fashion line for plus-size American clothing brand Torrid so the sartorial stakes have been set high for Rebel Wilson.

And on Sunday evening, the Australian star turned heads when she stepped out in a tight ruched dress, made from material resembling aluminium foil.

The 35-year-old, who will star in comedy How To Be Single next year, teamed the shiny, knee-length frock with a pair of pointed-toe silver kitten heels and a hot pink lolly-shape clutch.

The Bridesmaids star styled her hair into a side fringe and loose waves, and highlighted her facial features with natural-done make-up.

She smiled and placed her hand on her hip as she posed for photos on the red carpet before heading into Microsoft Theatre, where the awards show was held.

Inside the venue, Jennifer Lopez played host to the annual event, while Selena Gomez and 5 Seconds Of Summer took to the stage with high-energy performances.

Rebel, who noticed a gap in the market for fashionable plus-size clothing, launched her 31-piece capsul collection at the start of this month.

She told People magazine in the US that she was 'too big for most regular clothing'.

'But what I found with a lot of plus-size clothing was that it didn’t seem cool or on-trend,' she said.

'It was kind of like what your auntie would wear to a wedding. So it was a mission to find clothes that fit and were well-made… it definitely is an under-served market.'

She also spoke to the publication about her own style, saying her love for rap and hip hop music mean she has developed an 'urban, street side' style.

'Obviously I can’t really wear, like, gangster, on a red carpet — but culturally where I came from in Western Sydney, hip hop was a big thing,' she said.
