Terrified: Actress Roxanne Pallett was left shaken and scared after being confronted by an abusive gang on a train

Roxanne Pallett has spoken for the first time about her terrifying ordeal at the hands of a gang who confronted her in a train carriage.

The actress was left shaking and scared for her life after the gang - who were armed with savage dogs - rounded on her in her seat and started to abuse her.

And she said: 'I thought I was going to get bitten, beaten up, or stabbed. I just thought, "this is going to end bad".'

The incident happened on Monday when she boarded the 15:05 Carmarthen in wales to Manchester Piccadilly service after filming an episode of Casualty and was sitting quietly in a window seat reading scripts when a rowdy gang of three youths and two dogs came on board.

They spotted Roxanne after recognising her from the soap and started shouting her name, putting her down and being derogatory.

The 29-year-old said the next thing she knew, one of the gang members, a girl in her 20s, was in her face demanding to know if she was the actress who played Jo Sugden in the soap.

Roxanne, who stands at a tiny 5fy 1in, said she just smiled and said nothing and kept her head down but that only encouraged the gang further.

Speaking to the Sun about her ordeal, Roxanne said: 'The others started calling me "little sl**", "b****" and "ugly". They were talking about my character and said, "Andy Sugden should have finished you off".'

She soon noticed that the trio had two massive dogs with them - which she said she thought were Staffordshire bull terriers - that looked very ferocious.

Roxanne said they were snarling and she was trapped in her seat but she managed to push her way past them and make her way towards the next carriage.

But one of the thugs started screaming at her and threatening her with their dog.

She said: 'The others were just laughing and saying, "Go on, get her... throw the dog at her". He was thrusting it at me - using it like a weapon.'

After threatening to take a picture of them on her phone, Roxanne managed to get into the next carriage and pull the emergency cord.

The gang then jumped off at Shrewsbury station laughing at her.

But she said the passengers made her feel like she'd inconvenienced them and the driver shouted at her demanding to know what she was doing.

She said the staff were even less helpful and when the conductor arrived in the carriage he told her the assailants were known to them and they knew they were 'troublemakers and fare dodgers'.

Roxanne said: 'Why are staff allowing them on the train? If you brawled in a pub or club you'd be barred. There needs to be a massive improvement with security.

'It's come to something in society when you're scared to travel on the train.'
