John Travolta has been in Sydney flying the flag for Qantas for its 95th anniversary celebrations.

And the dedicated ambassador even donned the airline's signature red colour, in the way of skinny red jeans, as he greeted fans on Monday.

Adding a black cap, T-shirt, knee-length coat and trainers to his ensemble, the jaunty jeans stood out against the Hollywood star's casual dark evening attire.

The 61-year-old Grease star was spotted in his bright ensemble outside the Park Hyatt Hotel as he stopped to greet waiting fans.

Both John and wife Kelly Preston paused to sign autographs and pose for photos, before heading to the airport with their five-year-old son Benjamin. 

The 53-year-old actress also sported some funky tights, wearing printed leggings with a long sleeve, partially see-through black blouse and pull on shoes.

The couple flew out of Sydney on a private jet to Hawaii for Thanksgiving celebrations with family, after a few days Down Under as John fulfilled his role as a Qantas ambassador.

The departure ensemble wasn't the first time the Saturday Night Fever star sported an eye-popping coloured ensemble. 

On Sunday John was unmissable as he left his hotel wearing a fluorescent yellow parka and neon-striped sneakers.

Alongside John was his comparatively understated wife Kelly Preston, 53, who dressed down for the occasion in a pair of skinny jeans, grey jacket and matching grey shoes. 

The pair were joined by their five-year-old son, Benjamin, who was dressed in a bright orange T-shirt and grey shorts.

The family greeted fans outside the hotel and stopped for autographs before disappearing in their limousine.

The sighting comes a day after John's appearance on the red carpet at a QANTAS airline event, at which he sported another unusual sartorial decision - a blonde streak in his dark brown hair.

The airline ambassador-at-large's locks seemed to have been inspired by a 1980's style mullet.

Despite the unusual hairdo, the double Oscar-nominee cut a glamorous figure as he attended the event at Sydney Domestic Airport Jetbase.

The American star, who is a pilot himself, looked sharp in a fitted black three-piece suit and white shirt which he teamed with a bow-tie.

Meanwhile, his wife Kelly looked chic in a printed shift dress and patent booties. 

Also attending the high-profile event was Jessica Hart, Courtney Act, Lisa Wilkinson and Richard Wilkins.
