Ferguson and Owen may have lost the title... but they won the race
Despite their footballing despair thanks to Manchester City's Lazarus-like comeback to score twice in the last minute against QPR and rob them of the title, Manchester United's racehorse owners were given some consolation.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s gelding I’m Fraam Govan, trained by former journalist George Baker, won the 4.50 at Worcester at odds of 7-2, while Michael Owen had a winner at Uttoxeter with the Tim Vaughan-trained Paddy Partridge (13-8).
