Revealed: Celine Dion, 47, 'is trying to make the best of LAST Christmas with cancer-stricken husband Rene, 73'... as she brings AMAs to tears with Paris tribute

Celine Dion brought a theater to tears as she sang Edith Piaf's Hymne a l'Amour as a tribute to Paris during the American Music Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday.

The next day Closer Weekly reported the 47-year-old siren has been shedding plenty of tears in private over her ailing husband, Rene Angelil, 73.

The Canadian thinks this is her last holiday season with the cancer-stricken music manager, according to a source. 'This is very likely the last Christmas they'll celebrate with Rene,' said a friend. 'Celine is trying to make the most of whatever time they have left with Rene.'

Rene has been battling throat cancer.

Together the couple have three kids - Rene-Charles, 14, and twins Nelson and Eddy, aged five.

'Celine is hopeful by nature,' said the insider. 'She puts her trust in her faith.'

Dion is on break from her Las Vegas show at Caesars Palace until December 30 so she can have family time. She has a run until 2019.

'They spend hours singing traditional carols,' said a pal. Rene does not join in, but he listens.

And the beauty has been making sure there is some holiday cheer. 'She won't allow the house to descend into gloom and doom,' it was added.

'She does her best to fill her boys' lives with fun and excitement. But I also think every day has become more meaningful to them given what the family is going through.'

The family is staying at the family's home in Vegas.

Celine's mother Therese, 88, has been living with them as well as all three adult children of Rene's.

He has Patrick, 47, Jean-Pierre, 41, and Anne Marie, 38.

'Celine loves it when they come visit and lend support to their father,' it was claimed.

On Sunday, the French-Canadian sang Edith Piaf's Hymne a l'Amour as a montage showing of Paris landmarks, including the the Louvre and the Arc de Triomphe, and the French capital uniting in the wake of the attacks, played behind her.

Several audience members at at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, California, were visibly moved as Celine sang the emotional French classic in honour of the 130 people who died in the attacks on November 13.

Multiple guests of the American Music Awards were shown wiping away tears as they watched Celine's powerful performance.

As the grand finale neared Celine raised her arms in the air as an image of the Eiffel Tower lit up in the French colors behind her.
