Taylor Swift Love Story: Is her private life public property?

Taylor Swift Love Story: Is her private life public property?

Taylor Swift on her past love life being mocked in Glamour shoot | Daily Mail Online

Taylor Swift has spoken of feeling shamed in to staying away from romance after having her relationship history publicly mocked but as a celebrity, does she have a right to a private life? I have always felt some sympathy for young celebrities living their lives in the glare of media attention but it does annoy me when stars get all precious and whiny about people discussing their personal lives. Some celebrities do manage to keep their personal lives mostly private but the reality is, a star’s career is based on people being interested in their lives so to a certain extent, they should really want people to be discussing their private lives! What do you think; do celebrities deserve a private life?

She writes songs based on her relationships and breakups so she's got no right to start beefing when people take the rise out of her for it!!

Doesn't matter if you love me or hate me, you're still thinking about me :)

And she makes her money from the public who buy this music so, no, pop stars and other celebrities do not have a God given right to a private life!
Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did only backwards and in heels.

    Taylor Swift Love Story

[QUOTE=Sarah Cuda;28252138]Taylor Swift Love Story: Is her private life public property?

Whilst I have always felt that if you put yourself in this position and continue to do so you have no right to complain when you don't get any privacy. That being said, With Taylor Swift constantly being berated about her love life is a little unfair. How is someone like Ed Sheeran (or anything other artist for that matter) allowed to write a song based on an ex (Don't) and not get the same backlash?
Taylor Swift has never outed someone in a song by name. So why is she constantly criticised for writing these types of songs?
I actually understand her reasoning for saying she's felt shamed into being single and that just isn't right for a young and talented woman.

Yes they do have a right to a private life and some "celebrities" remain discreet. It is really entirely up to the celebrity, who has to retain the interest of a fickle public, especially since the celebrities of today are frequently young people with a talent for showing off. No one digs into the personal lives of top and famous actors, opera singers, conductors, writers. It may be known that they are married or single, have children or not but there is little constant attention to the details of their daily lives.

As previous posters have said, Taylor writes songs about her love life, even going so far as to put their name in the title in one instance (Style - thinly veiled, but it's there) - although this is never confirmed, just speculation; but again, that's her choice. If you didn't want the speculation you wouldn't put it out there, but she does, time and again. People are going to mock as a result of it. She posts pictures on social media with boyfriends, and she's frequently pictured with boyfriends in so called 'paparazzi shots'. If Taylor was that keen on keeping her private life private, she would. She has the resources to do so. We wouldn't know who she was seeing, there would only be unsubstantiated rumours.

She's just as bad with her friends, it's becoming increasingly apparent that the 'friend collector' only collects famous people as friends. Coincidence? I somehow doubt it. Taylor play the game, she knows the rules. She's the biggest exploiter of her private life, so she shouldn't complain when she gets mocked. She's paid millions for it. She's a business woman, her love life is her career, without it she wouldn't be anywhere. It's sad, but true.

So, would it be OK for, say, a gardener, or a builder, or a childminder (who all make money from the public who buy their services) to have every detail of their private lives laid bare for you to mock?

l remember seeing an article about this young girl looking sad and lonely saying " she didn't have any friends." At the time not knowing anything about this girl, l sort of felt sorry for her, but then all of a sudden she was having fiery feuds and would write songs about the person concerned, and now l see she has a posse of girls, and her list of requirement are beyond bizarre, you must have x amount of money in the bank, she let of one girl because she only had a little over $600,000 but thought in the future she would make it, so she could be friends. This little clique of Taylors will eventually implode upon itself, they always do. People are not commodities, they are human beings who have taken the time and effort to be your friend, but only on Taylors terms, l would never allow myself to be friends, even an acquaintance of someone like that. Yes she did do something good in regard to her record company which enabled musicians to get the money they deserve. l am not a great fan of Kayne West but l think she milked that incident until the cow was dry, l hate to say this, but l find her rather calculating and manipulative, and eventually she will be seen for what she is. It's like she deliberately goes and finds a feud which gives her the inspiration to write a song, l think she would have her friends quite nervous to cross her and this new cats eyes makeup she wears only makes her look like."Becareful, you upset me l will bring you down. So yes l do believe her public life, reason? She made it so.
