As the holiday season fast approaches, Crown Princess Mary's commitments have shifted to Christmas festivities.

Just days after returning from a women's rights trip to West Africa, the 43-year-old Princess attended the annual TV2 Christmas show pre-taping as a guest of honour.

Dressed in a stunning red Dolce & Gabbana dress, Princess Mary looked elegant and festive as she attended the show at the House of Music in Aalborg, Denmark.

The Australian-born royal paired the figure-hugging dress with her timeless black Prada trench coat and patent leather T-strap heels from Gianvito Rossi.

She also accessorised with a simple bright pink Carlend Copenhagen clutch.

Arriving last to the event, the mother-of-four was greeted by a little girl who presented her with a bouquet of flowers.

The Princess was pictured posing for photographs with the girl before moving inside where she viewed a number of well-known national artists and the symphony orchestra who performed for just over an hour.

The red dress appears to be a festive favourite for the Princess, who was seen wearing it at a Christmas reception for the Mary Foundation in early December 2014.

The future Queen was without her husband Prince Frederik and four children, who were unable to attend due to school the next day.

One day earlier, Crown Prince Frederik was pictured receiving five kilos of rice as a gift from representatives of the Japanese municipality Higashi Matsushima.

The rice was from the first harvest since the Japanese tsunami in March 2011 - a significant gift considering the damage caused to the area following the disaster.

The 47-year-old Prince visited the area in 2011 - a visit that had impacted him greatly.

The rice was harvested following the restoration of the area, which was destroyed by the earthquake and tsunami that took many lives.
