Gareth Bale is relishing the challenge of playing in Spain but admits to missing the simple things from life back home.

The Real Madrid forward, who started in his side's humiliating 4-0 defeat by Barcelona on Saturday, joined the capital club for a record £86million in 2013.

And while he has immersed himself in Spanish life, he has found some things can't be replicated.

'I feel like I've grown up,' he told the Daily Express. 'Especially since I've come over. You're not in your comfort zone any more, and you have to deal with things. Maybe last year I didn't play so well in the second half of the season.

'In a way, I'm glad it happened. You learn more from when things aren't going well than if you were just winning.

'It is difficult, and I've realised why British players have maybe found it difficult in the past. But I'm enjoying the challenge.'

And asked what he misses most about life in England, he said: 'Cadbury's Dairy Milk Turkish Delight and PG Tips.'

'I'm enjoying life, playing, improving, winning titles,' he added.

Bale, whose partner Emma is expecting their second child, also revealed he is 'obsessed' with golf.

'I love playing golf,' he added. 'I love the sport, I love the fact that you can just get away from everything, be with your friends, and no-one can come over to you on a golf course. Etiquette! It's nice to get out and, I suppose, switch your mind off from football. Just have a laugh.

'Yeah, at the moment, I am obsessed with golf.'

Real Madrid trail Barcelona by six points after Saturday's humbling at the Bernabeu, a result which piled the pressure on manager Rafa Benitez.

Neymar, Luis Suarez and Andres Iniesta were on target to leave the Spaniard's future in doubt.

Real travel to Ukraine to play Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Wednesday and face another difficult trip, to Eibar, this Sunday.

'We weren't a team. We gave them too much space. It is difficult to say why this happened but it is not the first time,' said midfielder Luka Modric.
