The kiss came after the two performed Meghan's latest hit, Like I'm Gonna Lose You, and the handsome singer's song, Marvin Gaye.

In an interview with the American Music Awards' social media correspondent Chelsea Briggs, Charlie revealed that he and Meghan are however, strictly business.

'There was a lot of making out. The dancers were making out and I’m sure some of the other dancers were making out. I think that’s it though,' he said jokingly.

'We’re friends and it’s all part of my whole vision when I made Marvin Gaye, for people to hear the record and spontaneously make out with each other. That was the goal tonight for the live show.'

This isn't the first time the young singers have worked together.

Charlie previously made a cameo in Meghan's video for her single, Dear Future Husband.

In an interview with EW, the handsome Marvin Gaye singer revealed how he met the songstress, ultimately leading them to work together on his hit single.

'We actually met at a party in the Hollywood Hills, and I played her a very early demo version of Marvin Gaye and she memorized the song and sang it in the studio a week later…. She’s taken me on and introduced me to her fans. They call themselves the Megatrons, and they’ve kind of adopted me,' he said.

Earlier in the evening, Meghan wowed on the red carpet.

The singer's dress choice for the AMAs proved she wanted to be remembered years from now, and not just for her music.

The Like I'm Gonna Lose You singer chose to go the classic route, in a modest, floor-length gown.

The beautiful blonde is nominated in three categories this year: Artist of the Year, Favorite Female Artist- Pop/Rock, Favorite Artist- Adult Contemporary.

Although her lips were made to standout, both her eyes and red pout commanded attention, neither outdoing the other.
