Today the mother-of-two, 43, donned the two-piece for the third time for a series of meetings in Madrid.

She first wore the two-piece, which is thought to have cost around £679, on an official visit to New York in 2009.

And she sported the outfit for the second time a year ago when visiting Casa dos Marcos, a centre for people with disabilities and rare diseases, on a trip to Portugal.

On this occasion, the monarch paired the ensemble with a nude silk blouse and patened red courts.

Falling just above the knee, the skirt which featured a delicate floral embellishment, allowed Letizia to show off her shapely legs.

And she complemented the colour scheme with a slick of subtle red lipstick.

The Spanish designer is a firm favourite of the Queen who regularly chooses his outfits for official engagements.

Last week, Letizia wore a black sequinned sheath dating back to 2008 for a state dinner with the King and Queen of Jordan.

She also chose one of his designs for the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in 2011.

The fashion icon kept her make up simple for the occasion, and accessorised with an understated pair of drop earrings.

It was a busy day of engagements for the mother-of-two as she attended the opening of the Ingres exhibition.

The retrospective at Madrid's Prado Museum features the work of French neoclassical artist Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres.

Later, she received representatives from a literary organisation the Cesar Egido Serrano Foundation at the Zarzuela Palace.

After a private audience, she then met with winners of the organisation's annual fiction content.
