It took a reality show to help her get over her constant anxiety.

Christina Milian has revealed that forcing herself to do something outside of her comfort zone - specifically, taking part in Dancing With The Stars in 2013 - helped her face her fears.

'I used to be afraid of everything. Running out of money, not being good at something, being nervous,' the 34-year-old singer-actress revealed in an interview in the Winter issue of New You.

The American Music Awards' red carpet was stellar to say the least.

Jennifer Lopez, Selena Gomez, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Nicki Minaj, Ellie Goulding and Ariana Grande were all in attendance and gorgeous they all looked too. But let's not forget Christina Milian who also made an appearance alongside best friend Karrueche Tran.

'When I started to try things that I was scared of, like Dancing With The Stars, I found it was never as bad as I thought.

'The trials and tribulations in my personal life are enough for me to say, "Okay, get over your fears and just go for it. There is nothing stopping you."'

Christina's new-found confidence has certainly paid off.

She has two TV shows running on Tuesday nights – Fox sitcom Grandfathered and her own Christina Milian Turned Up reality show on E!. Plus she released her self-funded, five-song EP in October.

'My dad always taught me that negative words like "no" and "can’t" should not be in my vocabulary,' she told New You.

'We have been blessed with opportunity. It’s your job to recognize it and make the most out of what you have.'

And the celebrity, who shares daughter, Violet, five, with ex-husband The-Dream, said: 'Parents and family make up a core value system for me.

'Having a mom and a dad who you know are always imprinted on your life makes a huge difference, from education to relationships to the decisions you make.'

Christina and The-Dream, aka, Terius Youngdell Nash, eloped to Las Vegas to tie the knot in September 2009.

Violet was born in February 26, 2010, nine days after the 38-year-old rapper filed for divorce.

Christina, who has been linked to on-off beau Lil Wayne, has made peace with her ex, saying: 'My daughter’s dad and I have a friendship that is way beyond the relationship we had.

'Now, we get along as friends and know each other that way.'
