They've been trading insults through the media over the past nine years.

However, it looks like Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Lily Allen have finally put their long feud to rest as the pair posed up together at the British Fashion Awards.

No doubt fans of the singers would have been shocked to see them posing with their arms around each other as they partied at the London Coliseum on Monday night.

Wearing a custom, sheer Top Shop gown, Cheryl, 32, - who once dubbed Lily a 'chick with a d**k' -put on a wide smile as she posed alongside 30-year-old Lily.

Meanwhile, mother-of-two Lily wore a metallic blue Chanel gown, which she ended up wearing with a sports jacket - evidently feeling rather chilly.

The former rivals' meeting at the high-profile event - held in association with Cîroc Vodka and FIJI Water - comes 18 months after Lily offered an olive branch when she admitted she regretted their feud.

In April 2014, Lily told Q magazine: 'I wish that whole thing hadn't happened. I like Cheryl.

'She’s good on The X Factor, she’s pretty and she’s got balls. I like women who do well.'

Of course, Lily was the one to start the rivalry when she first burst into the charts back to 2006.

The name of the B-side to her debut single Smile as Cheryl Tweedy - the Girls Aloud singer's maiden name before her first marriage to footballer Ashley Cole.

The lyrics included the chorus: 'I wish my life was a little less seedy / Why am I always so greedy? / Wish I looked just like Cheryl Tweedy.'

At the time, Cheryl thought the lyrics were 'complimentary', which were soon dismissed by Lily: 'I was being ironic. Nobody wants to look like that.'

It wasn't long before Cheryl hit back and dubbed Lily 'a chick with a d**k' when she appeared on Gordon Ramsay's show The F Word in 2007.

Lily then reacted in force as she wrote a scathing open letter to Cheryl on her Myspace page.

She wrote: 'Cheryl, if you're reading this, I may not be as pretty as you but at least I write and SING my own songs without the aid of autotune.

'I must say taking your clothes off, doing sexy dancing and marrying a rich footballer must be very gratifying, your mother must be so proud, stupid b****.'

Two years later, Cheryl said she wasn't in a rush to be friends with Lily after the latter had crticised her husband and bandmate Nicola Roberts.

She told Q: 'She called my husband "horrendous". Then she called Nicola "ugly". For another female artist to call you ugly is so awful.

'Nicola’s been called "ginger" all her life, then she makes something of herself and everyone calls her the "ugly one".

'I feel very protective of her and if that means I’m going to call Lily "whatever", then I don’t care.'

By January 2010, the pair had a momentary truce after Cheryl said they had met at an event.

She said: 'I met Lily for the first time last week. I gave her a hug and said, "Nice to meet you." To which she said: "There is no beef."

'Then I hear she was in the Press room taking the p*** and I thought: "She's a little girl but I'm a 26-year-old woman and I'm not at school any more."'

In 2011, Cheryl offered an olive branch when she commented on a photo of a then-pregnant Lily's baby bump on Twitter.

Cheryl tweeted: '@MrsLRCooper looks ridiculously cute with her baby bump.. Aahhh.'

However, the following year, Lily reignited the feud when she referred to Cheryl's 2003 conviction for assault on Twitter which promoted the X Factor judge to unfollow her.

It remains to be seen how long their latest attempt at friendship will last this time round.
