But the wrestling pay-per-view event, which went off without a hitch, had heightened security after the terror threat was exposed by hacktivist group anonymous on Saturday.

WWE wrestler and executive vice president Paul 'Triple H' Levesque tweeted: 'In the face of uncertainty, 14,481 strong (and LOUD) showed up to #SurvivorSeries.'

'#ThankYou to the local and national authorities for ensuring everyone's safety tonight @PhilipsArena.'

Security was visibly ramped up outside the venue following the tip-off by Anonymous which said it had uncovered the terror plot from ISIS to attack the US, Indonesia, Italy and Lebanon as well as Paris on Sunday.

The hackers reportedly said the target in the US was the Philips Arena in Atlanta during WWE's annual event.

Speaking with the International Business Times, members of the group said that they had passed all information onto government officials and would not publish proof that the threats are legitimate.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation said on Saturday it did not view a reported threat by Islamic State militants to attack a professional wrestling event in Atlanta this weekend as credible but local police were still present

The Federal Bureau of Investigation said on Saturday it did not view the reported threat by Islamic State militants to attack a professional wrestling event in Atlanta this weekend as credible.

The FBI said: 'We have, however, made the proper notifications as we continue to work closely with our law enforcement and private sector partners to keep our community safe.'

Jim Butterworth, Director of the Georgia Emergency Management Agency told Fox 5 the venue was on a list ISIS made of potential targets.

Shortly after rumors of the attack began to circulate Triple H announced on Twitter that WWE had called on law enforcement officials to increase security.

The WWE provided the following statement to Channel 2 Action News: 'WWE Survivor Series is currently scheduled as planned while we investigate the matter with federal, state and local authorities.'

The threats by ISIS come after the deadly terror attacks in Paris when gunmen opened fire on cafes, detonated suicide bombs near the national stadium and attacked a concert hall.

America remains on high alert after ISIS issued a chilling new video warning that countries taking part in air strikes against Syria would suffer the same fate as Paris.

The terror group also claimed that they will attack Washington D.C. and possibly New York next in videos released on social media sites.

Homeland Security Director Jeh Johnson said: 'We know of no specific credible threat of a Paris-like attack directed at the U.S. homeland.

'We are and we continue to be and we have been concerned about copycat-like attacks.'

Johnson urged Americans to travel and attend public events this holiday.
