No hard feelings? Chris Hemsworth reveals he replaced brother Liam as Thor.... after initially failing to make the final four at casting stage

Chris Hemsworth became a household name across the globe after he appeared as Marvel's Thor in 2011.

And in the latest issue of Vanity Fair the 32-year-old revealed he was never initially picked for the Hollywood blockbuster role.

The Australian hunk explained that he failed to make the final four casting call, losing out to his younger brother Liam.

'I had an audition with Ken [Branagh, for Thor] that didn’t go very well. I remember walking out thinking, "Oh well, there goes that opportunity",' he told the publication.

The actor went on to add that there was no competition between him and Liam for the role and that he recalled thinking 'if one of us get it, that's cool' before discovering his brother had made the cut over him.

'One day Joss [Whedon] was reading the trades, and on the front was the final four for Thor, and they pointed to Liam and said, "Hey, is that your brother?" and I said, "Yeah",' he explained,

Chris said he remembered the screenwriter and director asking: 'Why the hell aren’t you in the mix?’ to which he simply replied back: ‘I didn’t get a callback.’

'They were like, "This is crazy"..."No way, that should be you".

He went on to add that the directors of the up and coming film re-opened casting after Joss instructed the directors to 'give Chris another shot'.

During his second attempt for the film's lead actor, he recalls the production crew commenting on his muscular physique stating 'they said, "Umm, we’re looking for a Thor-type, not actual Thor".

He added that being picked for the role was a 'dream scenario' because he is now involved in a regular series that helps him keep 'relevant' in the acting world.

After losing out to Chris on the role of the superhero flick, Liam found himself in line to appear in the adventure series The Hunger Games just months following.

'Yeah, Liam’s doing all right,' Chris laughed after talking about his defeat to his younger sibling.

While talking to the American publication about life before and after making it big in Hollywood, the former Home And Away star posed for its latest cover.

Looking straight down the camera lens, the father-of-three displayed his buff figure as he sported a red polo shirt that had 'Help! It's Christmas' printed across the front along with a pair of denim jeans.

While throwing a baseball in his hand he wore her golden locks spiked for the shot as he showed off a tiny cheeky smirk.
