'He is stealing my thunder AGAIN!' David Beckham airs his mock frustration as Ben Stiller's Zoolander 'dethrones' him as the Sexiest Man Alive

David Beckham has just been labelled People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive.

But the handsome hunk has some serious competition in the shape of Ben Stiller's beloved male model alter-ego Derek Zoolander, and he has taken to Instagram to vent his mock frustration.

Sharing an image of a People cover, in which Zoolander is pictured spread across a bed with the headline 'The sexiest model alive!', David joked that his title was already being taken away from him.

The 40-year-old quipped: 'I'm barely a week into my reign and already this man is trying to steal my thunder AGAIN @peoplemag #sexiestmanalive #bluesteel.'

His funny post came not long after the official Zoolander Instagram account posed the hilarious cover, and was taunted by the made-up character.

'Hey @DavidBeckham remember when u were so mad about this?? Lol #ThrowbackMonday,' he quipped, with fans no doubt reading it and hearing his funny voice in their heads.

The fake cover, which was revealed just days after the first official trailer for the forthcoming sequel to the hit 2001 comedy flick, sees Stiller lying on his front on a bed, topless and wearing leopard print trousers.

In typical style, he's seen pulling a stunned version of his iconic 'Blue Steel' facial expression, with the added extra of an ice lolly in his mouth.

The US magazine's alternative cover also boasted an 'exclusive sneak preview' of Zoolander's calendar, keeping up the pretence.

However, it's all just for joke, so David needn't worry to much that he's had his title stolen from him so swiftly.

Former England captain David - who stepped out on Monday night alongside his wife Victoria at the British Fashion Awards - was revealed as the Sexiest Man Alive for 2015 last week, covering the celebrity magazine with his brooding good looks.

Look dapper in a tuexedo jacket from Victoria Beckham's own collection

Ever the style innovator, Victoria Beckham shunned the usual red carpet gown in favour of a suave tuxedo from her own collection (naturally). VB then accessorized her look with a simple black sweater, pointed pumps and beau David on her arm #swoon.

The epitome of chic, Victoria’s look is reminiscent of the iconic 1960s Le Smoking by Yves Saint Laurent, a timeless design that reinvented power dressing for women.

Sadly the all-black version is not currently available online, but you can get the blue version of Victoria’s tuxedo jacket from Harrods by following the link on the right.

The perfect investment buy, a tuxedo jacket is a great eveningwear addition, or workwear staple teamed with cigarette pants and a crisp white shirt.

And, while the majority of his fans would agree that he deserved the accolade, he appeared completely overwhelmed and self-deprecating in a gushing post made online.

He revealed the cover on his Instagram page, along with which he wrote: 'I thought I was past my sell by date but thanks to @PeopleMag for the accolade and the compliment!'

He went on to add that his four kids would find the whole thing rather amusing.

'I always feel a little shy when receiving these Awards, though it will make my Mum happy. This one the kids will laugh at, as they see what Daddy looks like in the morning! Photo by Marc Hom,' he joked.

Meanwhile, fans have been left in an excited frenzy after the first official trailer for Zoolander 2 was released last week, 14 years after the first film became a cult classic.

The teaser clip featured a whole host of hilarious celebrity cameos as well as classic gags from leading men Ben and his co-star Owen Wilson.

The amusing trailer sees 'really, really ridiculously good looking' Derek and his sidekick Hans McDonald (Wilson) having fallen from grace, accepting embarrassing jobs in a bid to stay relevant in the fashion industry.
