It was an evening filled with high emotion for Kim Zolciak, who missed her twins' second birthday in order to attend the Dancing With The Stars finale in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

The 37-year-old broke down in tears after returning to the show for a final dance on the hit show, which saw 17-year-old Bindi Irwin win the dance competition.

Kim was forced to withdraw from the competition in September after suffering a mini stroke and undergoing heart surgery.

After her return to the dance floor for an I Dream Of Jeannie inspired routine, she posted a video to her Instagram that showed her weeping backstage.

She expressed gratitude for having a chance at redemption after being cut from DWTS due to a heart condition.

In the clip, which she captioned 'Thank you GOD!!!!' the Don't Be Tardy star is still in her stage make-up and dance clothes.

'Why you crying?' someone asks Kim.

'I swear a crazy moment,' the mother-of-six exclaims. 'Like for it was like oh my god I am so blessed to be here. There's no words.'

In another video posted from behind the scenes she was seen joking around with her 14-year-old daughter Ariana as Brielle, 18, sorted out their mother's dance costume.

'I am so nervous tonight you guys,' Kim admits.

'Why are you nervous?' Ariana says. 'It's not like you are going home or you're staying. You're going home!'

While she took inspiration from Barbara Eden, her pro dance partner Tony Dovolani was outfitted in faux military garb to look like Larry Hagman's character, Major Anthony Nelson.

While the working mom was LA for the show, her twins Kaia and Kane were back in Atlanta with her husband Kroy celebrating their second birthday.

She missed the occasion, but did post a sweet Instagram message about them on Tuesday.

'Thank you God for another year!!' she wrote next to a photo of Kane pointing skyward.

And the winner is... Bindi Irwin with dance partner Derrick Hough took home the Mirror Ball Trophy

'HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my beautiful twins!! I can't believe they turn 2 today ... And it's the same day I return to DTWS!' she wrote, adding a smiley face and two dancing figure emojis.

'I feel so incredibly blessed! Overwhelmed with emotion today!! LIVE LIFE EVERYDAY TO THE FULLEST!' the Don't Be Tardy star continued.

'Kane and Kaia I love you more than words could ever describe! Cake and ice cream all day everyday when I get home!!!' wrote Kim.

It seems like Kim Zolciak was feeling a little cheeky before her big performance for Dancing With The Stars. The Don't Be Tardy star was spotted in a pair of see through pants which she teamed with a long sleeve top, Christian Louboutin pumps and a pink Chanel bag.

On Monday, Kim made sure all eyes were on her as she headed home after the penultimate Dancing With The Stars episode in a sheer Balmain outfit that put her body on show.

Kim cheered on her former fellow contestants from the audience, and was joined in Los Angeles by her eldest daughters Brielle and Ariana.

Earlier this month, Kim recovered from her heart drama by heading off on holiday to Mexico with her husband Kroy Biermann and their children.

The couple celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary during the getaway on November 11.

She documented the trip with plenty of flattering swimsuit selfies, but quickly jumped on the defensive when candid pictures emerged of herself in a bikini.

DailyMail.com and TMZ published photographs of the star on earlier this month as she relaxed on a beach in Mexico - highlighting a glaring difference from extremely flattering images she shared with her Instagram followers throughout the week.

Interestingly, one such altered image of the star standing in an Agent Provocateur bikini with a cinched-in waist and substantial thigh-gap has now been deleted from her account.

Furious Kim hit back on social media, posting a dimly lit video that showed her lifting up her top to reveal her tummy.

Kroy adopted Brielle, 18 and Ariana, 14, Kim's daughters from previous relationships, shortly after they wed.

The blonde is currently in her fourth season of her hit Bravo TV show, Don't Be Tardy, which first aired in 2012.
