Looks like, despite his name, this reality star is not as sweet as he may seem.

Mama June has revealed Sugar Bear not only cheated on her, he did so with someone she knew.

In a new interview with Toofab, 'Mama June' Shannon said fans of the on and off again couple will be shocked to see the real side of Mike 'Sugar Bear' Thompson in this season of Marriage Boot Camp: Reality stars when it goes to air.

She told the website: 'People are gonna see a side of Sugar Bear they didn’t see on Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.

'I think the fans are gonna be shocked a little bit, people in the house were even shocked because they were fans of the show. I just told him to go in there and be open and honest, it’s not a vacation.'

For his part, the father of pageant queen and reality star Honey Boo Boo, admits he was wrong.

More than chatting: When the couple split last year it was reported Sugar Bear was on dating websites but now it has been revealed his celebrity status meant a lot of women showed interest in him and he did more than just talk with at least one of them

Mike 'Sugar Bear' Thompson told Toofab: 'My biggest issues was my cheating. I’ve done that and shouldn’t have and I look back on it, I regret it and I wanted to go to Marriage Boot Camp and get the help that I need.'

The on and off again couple - who had a commitment ceremony on their former show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo but never married - split for the second time in less than a year last September.

It was reported at the time that the couple called it quits as Mama June caught Sugar Bear on dating websites, but he now says 'a lot more than internet chatting'.

In fact, he did have an affair with a co-worker's wife.

Mama June said: 'It was really hurtful because one of it was a good friend of ours that we’ve known for quite some time.

'The woman had been to dinner several times.'

The reality star said due to their fame her boyfriend became quite at catch.

'I told him, a lot of times, people aren’t liking you for Mike Thompson, they’re liking you because, Sugar Bear, you’re Honey Boo Boo's dad. You gotta realize who’s really there for you, and who’s a fanatic and just wants to say ''Oh my god, I slept with Sugar Bear.'''

But it was actually Mama June that caused a public scandal, when she was spotted with ex boyfriend Mark McDaniel.

Mark had just been released from prison where he spent 10 years for aggravated child molestation.

June's daughter Anna Cardwell - who is currently pregnant with her second child - has revealed she was the one assaulted by McDaniel.

June told the Dailymail.com on Thursday that she and Anna are working to repair their estranged relationship.

Speaking to the Dailymail.com at the premiere of Marriage Boot Camp she said: 'I mean we talk and stuff, she's about to have a baby in December, another girl.

'We get along and we worked out the little kinks or whatever but it’s a work in progress like everything.'

When asked if she still sees McDaniel, the star was hesitant to say.

'That will be address on the show the truth will be revealed on the show, the fans will actually get the truth not just the rumours.'

Speaking to the fans who were concerned about the family when the scandal broke: 'There was nothing to be worried about, and the truth will be revealed.'

Mama is also trying to work with Sugar Bear now that filming on the We TV show has wrapped to try to repair their relationship also.

While being on the show - which airs December 4 on We TV - helped, the 35-year-old said they still have a long way to go.

'Yes you do learn a lot about yourself, you do learn a lot about what you are doing but honestly in 15 days [the length of filming the show] it does not repair everything.'

'We still live in separate households, he comes up every weekend - we’re civil. It's still a work in progress.

The former couple plan to spend Thanksgiving this week all together having a meal and being 'a family' Sugar Bear said.
