He may have romped to victory in the polls but Argentina's new president best think again about dancing in public if he wants to keep his supporters onside.

Mauricio Macri is being mocked online for what is some vintage 'dad dancing' while celebrating his election triumph on stage.

The newly elected premier was seen leaping on the spot, shaking his hips and waving his arms in the air as he soaked up the atmosphere at his victory party.

But his unplanned waltz into the world of disco dancing has since been seized upon by web pranksters - and he's now the focus of an hilarious viral video. 

'The Macri Dance Tutorial' teaches the public how to boogie like their top politician is sweeping the South American nation.

The lesson aims to get the whole country bobbing to the beat of September by Earth, Wind and Fire - and get everyone in sync with their new leader, instruction viewers how to move like Macri in five simple steps.

Macri - a 56-year-old engineer - won 51.4 percent of the votes during the second-round round of voting in the country's election on November 22.

The former Buenos Aires mayor ran for the Cambiemos (Let's Change) Party - a centre-right to centre political coalition created just this year.

He will take over from former president Cristina Kirchner.
