Swiss bank ABS becomes first to hit savers with negative interest rates

Alternative Bank Schweiz told customers they face a -0.125 per cent rate on their money from 2016 - and a -0.75 per cent rate on deposits above 100,000 Swiss francs. It echoes the Swiss central bank's -0.75 per cent negative deposit rate. In September, the Bank of England's Andy Haldane said the UK could one day have to consider negative rates.
