Though girl squad leader Taylor Swift has never flat-out said that Katy Perry is the back-stabbing ex-friend referenced in her chart-topping hit Bad Blood, most fans have confidently deduced that the Dark Horse singer inspired the popular single.

The 31-year-old was accused of 'stealing' back-up dancers from Taylor, 25, poaching them while they were still out on the road with the younger singer's Red tour in 2013.

Which makes it all the more interesting that hunky model Sean O’Pry, 26, who starred in Taylor's Blank Space video, is now appearing in Katy's Christmas commercial for H&M.

As E! Online points out, Swifties will likely recognize Sean from the second video off 1989, in which he starred as the polished, drop-dead gorgeous guy that Taylor dated and then dumped in dramatic fashion.

And if Taylor’s fans watch H&M’s 2015 holiday campaign, featuring none other than Katy as its star, closely, it's not difficult spot the familiar face of Sean making an appearance, starting at about 56 seconds in. 

Wearing a Santa hat and no shirt - at least for a moment, before he magically and disappointingly finds himself dressed in a Christmas sweater - he sits on top of a red convertible. 

It's unclear if the casting was purposeful or coincidental, as there is always the possibility of overlap in the entertainment industry - but either way, it can't possibly augment Taylor's opinion's of her pop princess rival.

'For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not,' she said in a 2014 Rolling Stone interview about the inspiration for Bad Blood. 'She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, "Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?"' 

Then, she said: 'She did something so horrible. I was like, "Oh, we're just straight-up enemies." And it wasn't even about a guy! It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me. And I'm surprisingly non-confrontational - you would not believe how much I hate conflict. So now I have to avoid her. It's awkward, and I don't like it.'

After the interview, Katy cryptically tweeted, 'Watch out for the Regina George in sheep's clothing', which many people took to be a dig back at Taylor. 

It's also worth noting that while Katy did hire three dancers off Taylor's tour, they'd actually worked on Katy's The Prismatic World Tour first, and were invited back to join the second leg of it.

Either way, Katy's not speaking about their cute-guy-in-common while promoting the H&M campaign.

'In the campaign, I play a holiday pixie,' she explained in an interview with Yahoo! Style, where she added that she was actually thrilled to team up with the brand. 

'I swear, I’m not pitching anything to you here, but when I was a teenager, we didn’t have a lot of money, and H&M really changed the game for me. I would go to thrift stores and I would go to H&M, and I would put outfits together for myself, and feel like I looked like a hundred dollars when really, I’d spent maybe $30,' she said. 'And I can still do that now with their clothes! It made a huge difference in how I felt about myself as a kid, and that’s such a big deal to me, and it’s a big reason why I’m so excited to do the campaign. I’m not trying to sell it, I’m just honestly telling you, it was a big part of my teenage years.'

In the new commercial, Katy's hair is a pastel rainbow to match her colorful eye make-up, and she rocks a pixie-esque costume with fairy wings. 

Her new Christmas single, Every Day Is a Holiday, plays as she dances with nutcrackers, elves, human snowflakes, teddy bears, and reindeer, and other models come out on the scene to show off the latest holiday clothes and accessories from the store.

And, of course, Sean makes a few appearances, seeming notably less distressed than he was in his encounter with the crazed character Taylor portrayed in Blank Space

'From all of us to all of you, happy and merry holidays,' she says at the end after several costume changes.
