'F**k you, Eddie, in your brilliant costume': Daniel Radcliffe admits he's jealous of Redmayne's look in Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them

Harry Potter fans have been going wild for the first-look photos of Eddie Redmayne in Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them.

And they aren't the only ones impressed with the Oscar-winning actor's look since the Boy Who Lived himself, Daniel Radcliffe, has confessed he's jealous of Redmayne's suave costume in the spin-off film.

The 26-year-old actor joked in a new interview with NME magazine: 'Oh f**k you, Eddie, in your brilliant costume… I got jeans and a zip top for 10 years and you’ve got a greatcoat already?'

Eddie plays Newt Scamander in the prequel film, the author of Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, a textbook Harry has to read while attending Hogwarts.

In the sneak peak images of the hugely-anticipated movie, the 33-year-old star can be seen wearing a smart teal coat, a corduroy waistcoat and a snazzy bow tie, a stark contrast to Daniel's uniform of jeans and a hoodie in the popular film franchise.

Radcliffe also touched upon another Harry Potter spin-off in the interview, revealing that he'll be first in line to see West End production Harry Potter And The Cursed Child.

'It’s weird. But I’m happy for it to go on without me. I’ve no ownership of it', he said of the sold-out two-part play.

'I actually really want to see it. It would be a mental thing to try and see it with lots of very excited Harry Potter fans. But I kind of would like to know what happens now.'

Daniel certainly looks poles apart from his magical alter-ego in the the accompanying NME photoshoot, cutting an edgy figure in a grey T-shirt and leather jacket.

He's carved out a successful career in Hollywood since hanging up his wizarding robes, picking roles as varied as horror flick The Woman In Black and indie romance What If.

'I don’t really have mainstream tastes,' he told the publication when quizzed about his script choices.

'People do ask me, "Why do you choose such weird movies?" but I don’t think they’re weird, they’re just stories I’m interested in.

'Isn’t having weird tastes good, though? I think so. I think that’s better than always wanting to play the handsome hero.'
