She said: 'I find her not genuine a lot of the time. When we'd go out, she was a completely different person in public than at home and I had a hard time with that. It's like two different people.'

The teen continued: I mean, she smokes weed – not around us – but the whole house smells like it.'

She admitted: 'I didn't really see Rosie at all at that time. I never felt connected to her and I never really enjoyed being around her.'

The comedian spoke to Extra earlier this month while at her Rosie's Theater Kids 12th Annual Gala Celebration about her teenage daughter's alleged battle with mental illness.

'It's not a new situation in our home, it's new that the public knows about it...[Chelsea] was home for the last year but was gone for six years before that and that was for her own protection and everyone else's,' she told Extra, attending the event with three of her children.

Chelsea was adopted in 1997 by the former View host and her now ex-wife, Kelli Carpenter.

The public drama began in August, after the star posted an alert on her social media asking for help to find her missing daughter, adding that the teen was on medication.

She was found a week later with a 25-year-old man she had met through Tinder.

Chelsea told Daily Mail Online during her October interview that the demise of Rosie and Kelli's marriage played a part in her mental health issues.

She revealed: 'Since I was 12, I've struggled with depression and anxiety. It started when Rosie and Kelli got divorced. It was very upsetting to me and I think I took it harder than the rest of my siblings.'
