The Force Awakens... Down Under! Harrison Ford set to appear in Sydney to promote latest Star Wars film reprising his role as Han Solo
His iconic character comes from a galaxy far away but the man who plays him will be rather more accessible Down Under in December.
As anticipation builds around the release of Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, Harrison Ford is set to make his first franchise-related visit to Sydney ahead of its premiere.
Ford, who reprises his role as Han Solo in the forthcoming film, will kick start his promotional missive by appearing at a free fan event at the Sydney Opera House on 10 December.
Incoming: As anticipation continues to build around the imminent release of Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, Harrison Ford will make his presence felt in the Australian city ahead of its official premiere
While further details surrounding the event are yet to be released, an Opera House insider told the Daily Telegraph last week that the famously reclusive actor's visit is quite a coup.
'It doesn’t get much bigger than Harrison, really, in terms of who fans really want to see,' they said.
It is not known if 73-year old Ford - the only cast-member believed to be visiting the city - will also attend the film's premiere on December 17.
Coming soon: Ford, who reprises his career defining role as Han Solo in the forthcoming film, will kick start his promotional missive with a guest appearance at Sydney Opera House
Meanwhile Ford's fans all around the world are painstakingly counting down the days until he reprises what is arguably his most iconic role.
The latest teaser for the film appeared to add weight to the fan theory that the continuing space saga will once again be a family affair, and that the smuggler may be parent to one or even two of the franchise's new stars.
Reclusive: It is unknown if 73-year old Ford - seen here with cast-mate Mark Hamill - will also attend the film's premiere on December 17
'Harrison was required to bring a level of complexity that a 30-year-old Han wouldn’t be required to have,' JJ Abrams told Wired magazine in November.
The Bad Robot creator added, 'It was important that Han Solo be Han Solo but not feel like he’s playing a 30-year-old dude.
'When you’re 70, you will have lived a different set of experiences. That has to be apparent in who he is.'
