Rooney Mara showcases her quirky style in sheer ruffled skirt and military jacket at Governors Awards

Rooney Mara used her appearance at the Governors Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday to experiment with her style.

The 30-year-old made a fashion statement in a pretty, ballerina style skirt, paired with a military jacket.

Rooney's floor-length skirt was pink, ruffled and sheer, revealing a hint of her slender legs underneath.

By contrast, the plunging red and beige jacket with silver buttons was far more edgy.

The actress wore her raven locks slicked back and pulled into a bun, and sported striking eye make-up and dark lipstick.

Rooney certainly stood out among the many other A-listers at the event, who opted for more classic red carpet gowns.

The star recently denied rumours that she won't be back as Lisbeth Salander in The Girl In The Spider's Web.

Ruffle up the fash pack in Rooney's dress by Alexander McQueen

She’s proven herself to be quite the soldier when it comes to red carpet style, so we weren’t surprised to see Rooney Mara march her way to the top of our best dressed list in this gorgeous gown by Alexander McQueen.

The brunette beauty wowed in the military-inspired number which featured a red and cream jacket and a voluminous ruffled semi sheer skirt which balanced out the androgynous style upper half.

The striking creation is from Alexander McQueen’s spring/summer 2016 collection and Rooney pulled it off with effortless ease.

The sad part is that it’s not available to buy online, but get clicking to the right to shop the current collection at Net-a-Porter.

If you fancy having a shop around for similar styles, we suggest you snap up one of the ruffle-style dresses in the edit below and throw on a military style jacket to recreate Rooney’s look down to a T.
