'We don't want to spoil our kids': Carrie Underwood reveals why she and husband Mike won't overindulge baby Isaiah during his first Christmas

This will be her first holiday season as a parent.

'I feel there's a lot of Christmas that has kind of gotten lost, [Mike and I] have talked about not wanting to spoil our kids,' she said. 'We want it to be more about the family and the fun times.'

Carrie also spoke about how she prepares for the holiday, and while she does enjoy cooking a large meal, the Some Hearts hitmaker has a secret when it comes to breakfast Christmas morning.

'We'll get up and go to Waffle House. It's such a hectic time, and I don't feel like making breakfast on a day that you're just making so much food anyway.'

But though she would rather someone else handle the first meal of the day, she's always sure to take care of the person who's serving them.

'We order breakfast and leave a ginormous tip,' she told People.

Since her cooking accumen may be a point of contention anyway - her recent failed Thanksgiving pie Instagram snap has already gone viral - it's lucky that the star also values the holiday for other reasons.

Perhaps the star is already feeling quite blessed this holiday season, as she recently came away with the American Music Award for Favorite Female Artist - Country.

At the show, she also performed her new romantic ballad Heartbeat off new album Storyteller for the first time.
