Carry on a backpack by MCM like Ruby Rose

If you thought it was still okay to be wearing a leather bottomed Jansport backpack then you better think again.

Lately we've seen a spike in the backpack trend, with A-listers slinging around super luxe carryalls by labels like Fendi, Saint Laurent, Chloe and Proenza.

We totally understand why! Despite being completely functional, they also inject a youthful tomboy touch to any outfit.

And while brands like Fendi, Proenza and Chloe all come with hefty price tags, MCM is a luxury label that falls somewhere in the mid range.

But if indeed you were looking to get Ruby's look for less, then have a gander at our edit below where we've pulled together some of our favorites from around the web!

Poignant post: Ruby Rose posted a message to her Instagram and Twitter pages on Friday vowing to look after herself and to love herself

In the caption posted on Friday Ruby wrote: 'I've been so distracted losing myself in my biggest joy which is my work.. That I had forgotten that there are things I need to learn about self love. It's not being self absorbed or vain to love your self. It's a necessity to being able to live a long and happy life not reliant on externals and it's imperative in being a good friend and to love.'

'You can't give what you don't have. A good friend ( or two) of mine just reminded me to adjust my focus so I don't burn out. So I stop criticizing my every move.. and it came at the perfect time. I'm excited to build my foundations again. To open my mind and my heart up. To be the best person I can be. Xox.'

The post attracted over 85,900 likes at the time of writing and hundreds of fans posted comments supporting Ruby.

Ruby has been open about her battle with depression and bi-polar. Sadly on March 31 2013 she tweeted telling fans that she couldn't combat her demons on her own and checked into rehab.

'It is with great sadness that despite everything I have tried in the short time I was given I am still losing my battle with depression … these things need attention sometimes,' she tweeted.

In a frank interview discussing her mental health the Orange Is The New Black actress told Who Magazine: 'I have struggled with depression for years. I've gone from managing it to not managing it and it not being able to be managed.'

She went on: 'You have to think about your diets, it's why I don't drink, I take medication for a few years, it stops working, and you have to find new medication.

'I have bipolar and it's not going anywhere.'

The Instagram post is just one of several thought-provoking posts from Ruby in recent days.

The Australian actress also uploaded a quote that read: 'Some people live to try and change people. They have misplaced expectations. Don't let them stifle you...be yourself.'

Ruby has often spoke about the bullying she faced as a teen after coming out aged 12.

Speaking about on particular incident which saw five other girls and one boy attack her she told the Edit: 'They didn’t like the fact I was different. I don’t think they had hatred for me, per se; I think it was more that I stuck out like a sore thumb.'
