Lindsay Lohan's stepmother Kate Major 'released on $25k bond and sent to rehab after threatening fellow passenger and throwing phone at flight attendant'

After causing a commotion on a flight en route to Los Angeles, Kate Major was detained by police once the pilot diverted to New Orleans.

And now TMZ has reported the incident resulted in the 33-year-old getting arrested at the New Orleans airport for interfering with flight crew members. She was then released on $25,000 bail.

The estranged wife of Michael Lohan was also ordered to surrender her passport, and subsequently sent directly to a rehab facility in Southern California.

She had appeared 'wasted' on the flight, as she was reportedly headed to a 30 day stint in rehab, according to TMZ.

Things got worse from there as - according to the criminal complaint - she got into an altercation with another passenger after arguing about having to put her seat forward.

Kate, a former celebrity reporter, then yelled that that the witness' wife was a b***h, and reportedly threatened to 'slit her throat.'

Flight attendants moved Kate to a different seat to try and alleviate the situation, but things heated up again when she was refused after asking for a glass of wine.

Kate allegedly threw her phone and attacked a flight attendant, with a passenger having to hold her back, prompting the pilot to divert the flight to New Orleans.

At the airport Kate was booked for interfering with flight crew members, which is a federal offense that can garner a penalty of up to 20 years in prison.

Michael and Kate's sons Landon, two, and Logan, 10 months, were removed from their custody by the DCF in late October after social workers viewed a video of the couple having a massive fight in front of the children.

The boys are now in the care of Michael's mother, who has temporary guardianship. Michael and Kate can only see their boys during supervised visits.

They were also both ordered to take anger management classes.

In April, Kate was arrested for 'drunkenly attacking' Michael at their Boca Raton home.

She entered a 45-day rehabilitation program in June, but the couple separated soon afterwards.

Michael is the father of seven children, including Lindsay and Ali Lohan with ex-wife Dina.
