'This is so intense': Gwen Stefani fights back tears as two of her protégées sing to survive on The Voice but one forgets lyrics

Gwen Stefani tried to keep her tears away on The Voice on Tuesday night as her two contestants were left at the bottom of the pile.

Korin Bukowski, 20, and Briaden Sunshine, 15, were forced to sing one more song in a last ditch attempt to make it through to the next round after viewer votes from last night were tallied.

'This is so intense, having two of my babies against each other,' sighed the No Doubt singer as she wiped her eyes.

Gwen's shyest protégée Korin was eliminated after choosing Try by Colbie Caillat as her swan song.

The Miami songstress muddled the lyrics a little from nerves but still persevered to the end.

'That has happened to all of us,' reassured Blake Shelton, 39, who is now dating Gwen, 46.

'You deserve to be in this competition,' he added, while Pharrell Williams told Korin to hold her 'head up high'.

'Blake's right, that's happened to all of us…you got right back up,' praised the Happy singer, 42.

'That girl right there is deep,' said Gwen, who looked like a fairytale princess in a floral embroidered gown.

The Voice may be a singing competition, but Gwen Stefani is clearly winning in the style stakes. The Don't Speak singer wore a top pulled from Jean Paul Gaultier's Spring 2015 Couture collection along with a leather mini skirt and a pair of Christian Louboutin pumps. The short sleeve blouse was covered in a black mesh fabric and floral appliques.

The French designer is known for his unorthodox fashion and Gwen's top is no exception. The couture line features plenty of fringe pieces, exaggerated waistlines and slick reptilian prints. His designs have been spotted on Kim Kardashian and Rita Ora as well.

'I've gained a lot of confidence…I'm a lot more fearless than I thought I was,' said Korin.

'Thank you so much for everything, you've really made me jump out of my cocoon,' she told her mentor.

The baby of the competition Braiden sang for survival with Harder To Breathe by Adam Levine's band Maroon 5.

'Fantastic, you have the best taste ever,' joked Adam.

'That's a back against the wall song…this was just the right moment for that song,' added the 36-year-old Maroon 5 frontman.

Braiden was overjoyed.

'I want to thank anyone that's supported me…I thought it was a waste of gas money to go to the audition so this is blowing my mind,' he said.

'You turned around for a 15-year-old, I never expected that, that validation alone gave me so much more confidence,' he told Gwen.

'You've got your whole life ahead of you, you're very special,' she told him.

The rest of the contestants lived to sing another day.

Blake announced that the legendary Dolly Parton would be appearing next week to mentor the contestants and perform.

'I'm freaking out,' he yelled.

Next was Gwen's Chicago talent Jeffery Austin, 24.

Then Blake got to celebrate as his teacher/father/rocker Barrett Baber, 35, made it to the next round.

'I've taught my students that it's Ok to run into the unknown sometimes, sometimes the ''plan'' can be negotiated,' said Barrett, who is hoping to quit teaching to become a famous musician.

Pharrell's final student Madi Davis, 16, also progressed, followed by religious Brooklyn girl Amy Vachal, 26.

At half time global superstar Sia wore her trademark bangs and a giant black bow to belt out her single Alive.

Then Blake rejoiced again as his Elvis-esque heartthrob Zach Seabaugh was saved.

Under-confident school student Shelby Brown, 16, also lived to fight another day as she made Adam's team complete.
