Conor McGregor will consider giving Jose Aldo an immediate rematch if the Brazilian can manage five rounds with him in their UFC 194 bout next weekend.

The Irishman has every intention of taking Aldo's featherweight belt in the MGM Grand on December 12, but while he doesn't believe the UFC's pound-for-pound best will make it past the first round, The Notorious conceded he would face the champion again if he could 'give him a war'.

McGregor also admitted that he now expects the long-awaited fight to go ahead, after repeatedly speculating that the Brazilian would pull out of the bout as he did in July.

Five of Aldo's seven UFC title fights have gone the distance, with the Brazilian winning them all by unanimous decision.

'Let me see how the contest plays out,' McGregor said. 'If he can give me a war in there and he can earn a rematch then we can do a rematch, but I just don't see him answering the bell for the second round.

'I can't see his face or his body at the beginning of the second round. If he can come and bring a war and we can do this for five rounds then maybe I will consider a rematch, but I feel he won't get up off the stool and answer that bell for the second round.'

Aldo pulled out two weeks before a planned contest between he and McGregor in July, and The Notorious was openly dubious as to whether he would get to face the champion on December 12.

But with 10 days until the fight, McGregor has tentatively changed his tune on the matter.

'I'll breath a little bit easier when he touches down on US soil, said the Dubliner. 'For the last fight it wasn't far off this time that he pulled out. But I feel we're going to go ahead with it.'

The pair have been in a war of words for nearly a year now, and Aldo was noticeably riled by McGregor who even snatched the champions belt at a world media tour event in the spring.

However, the Brazilian has said he is not angry with the Irishman ahead of their showdown.

'No (I'm not angry), it has nothing to do with that. The guy is working for me, he's basically making me money, he has been good for the division. How can I be angry at him for that?

'Nothing has changed, he's still the joker and he is bringing me money.'
