It's the last few weeks if the fall season.

And Hilary Duff looked perfect for an autumn day in Los Angeles.

The 28-year-old star looked fashionable in flannel as she was spotted enjoying an afternoon of mother-son bonding in the Studio City neighbourhood of Southern California on Sunday.

The Lizzie McGuire actress rocked a short plaid button-down dress along with a pair of black suede thigh-high booties as she was joined by her three-year-old son Luca.

Hilary accessorised the look with a large black sun hat with matching shades, a black bag with a fringed detailing and a long necklace with a blue lucky rabbits foot at the end of it.

Her signature blonde locks were worn messily under the stylish headwear as she sported natural, complimentary make-up on her face highlighted by a swipe of pink lip.

No doubt she was enjoying the day out with her only child as she flashed a big smile while holding onto snacks in one hand and holding onto the hand of Luca with the other.

The youngster looked cute in a light blue shirt with denim shorts and patterned trainers.

He also sported a red, white and blue bandanna wrapped around his neck and what looked like a temporary tattoo on his arm.

Her pride and joy: No doubt she was enjoying the downtime with her only child as they walked hand-in-hand together on the trip

It's been nine months since Hilary filed for divorce from estranged husband and Luca's father Mike Comrie, requesting full custody with visitation rights for her ex.

The couple had announced their separation over a year earlier, in January 2014.

No doubt Hilary has been enjoying spending time with the youngster before her TV Land sitcom comes back for it's second season.

Just over a week ago, the network gave fans a 'first look' at the second season of Younger with a brand new video that included cast interviews.

'We have a lot of surprises in store this season, and scripts are coming in, I think we're all just getting really excited for all the adventures we're going to have,' Hilary said early on in the promo.

Younger is about a 40-year-old woman (Sutton Foster) who pretends to be 26-years-old in order to land a job in New York City.

The second season of Younger will return on January 13.
