Nicki Minaj posts $100,000 bail for older brother Jelani Maraj after he is charged with raping a 12-year-old

Nicki Minaj has posted bail for her older brother after he was arrested and charged with raping a 12-year-old.

Jelani Maraj, 37, was released from jail in Nassau County, New York, on Friday after his sister put up $100,000 bond.

According to the New York Post, the bond is guaranteed by two homes owned by the rapper, 32, in Baldwin, New York  - one that is home to her mother and the other that is used by her brother.

Jelani was arraigned on Thursday and is charged with first-degree rape and first-degree sexual conduct against the preteen.

Each charge carries a sentence of nine to 25 years in prison.

Details about the alleged rape, such as the victim's gender, or when and where the sexual assault happened, have not been revealed.

The Anaconda hitmaker is very close to her older brother and splashed out $30,000 on his August wedding to longtime girlfriend Jacqueline Robinson.

She posted a photo of herself with Jenalia at the wedding on her Instagram along with a message about how much she loves him, People reported Saturday.

'I would cross the ocean for u. I would go & bring u the moon. Promise u. For u I will,' Nicki wrote.

'I love my brother so much man,' she added. 'I do anything to see my brothers smile.'

People reports that Jenali is due back in court on December 9. 

In October, Minaj took home the awards for rap/hip-hop artist of the year and favorite rap/hip-hop album at the American Music Awards.  

She was born in Trinidad, but grew up in New York City where she attended LaGuardia High School - the prestigious public performing arts academy that inspired the film Fame.
