Rod Stewart, 70, looks suave in a tuxedo as he joins glamorous wife Penny Lancaster, 44, at charity ball

They are known to put on an amorous display. 

So Rod Stewart, 70, made no exceptions as he cosied up to his 44-year-old wife Penny Lancaster at the annual Emeralds and Ivy Ball in London on Saturday night.

The Do Ya Think I'm Sexy? hitmaker went hand-in-hand with his bedazzled bride before larking around on the red carpet.

Penny looked sensational as she stormed the red carpet in the glimmering green mini-dress which skimmed the top of her famously lengthy legs. 

The stunning model ensured her look was kept demure with the addition of thick black tights alongside the dress' long sleeved detailing. 

Her sky-high heels meant she towered over her husband, although the confident duo carried off the height difference with indifference. 

Penny's bouncy blonde locks were styled in a flicked-out blowdry, the result of her stylishly cut long layers, while she kept her make-up minimal and striking.

Cheeky Rod looked effortlessly suave in his dapper tuxedo yet he added his classic touch of rock 'n' roll with a pair of leopard print brogues. 

He wore his classic blonde mullet in it's usual spiky blow-dry, with a mullet style back tumbling over his collar. 

As he stepped on to the red carpet, Rod hid behind step and repeat board before finally coming out and posing up a storm alongside his wife.

Around 500 guests joined organisers Ronan and Storm Keating for the 10th annual star-studded Emeralds & Ivy Ball, which raised more than £1million for Cancer Research UK and the Marie Keating Foundation.

The black tie evening was hosted by Rachel Riley and saw performances from Anastacia, Stacey Solomon, Nadine Coyle, The Shires, Izzy Bizu, Jamie Raven as well as Ronan himself.

Guests were also invited to bid on money-can’t–buy prizes with all donations going toward the ongoing fight against cancer. 

Rod and Penny have been together for 15 years and together they have two young sons - Alastair, nine, and Aiden, four.

Penny recently revealed the secret to their lasting love, as she told the Daily Mirror: 'Our honeymoon period seems to have lasted forever, we still have a connection like we just met.' 

And the mum-of-two says it's all about making time for the three men in her life.  

'Most men are still needy, especially when you have been in a long relationship before children arrive, and then children do take up a big part of your time and men feel they are left out a bit.

'So I make a very conscious effort to dedicate time - the two of us going out for dinner or having breakfast together. Just a moment amongst the madness, he still needs attention,' she added to the newspaper.

She went on to say that checking in with each other, making sure that everything is under control and organised, is as important as checking their boys have gone to bed on time and finished their homework. 

She also recalled a time when Rod was stuck in terrible traffic and had phoned home in frustration.

She perked him up by telling him that she was running him a bath and had a glass of wine on the side ready for when he got in so that he felt somebody as thinking about him on the way home

The music legend and third wife Penny have been together since 1999 and tied the knot in a medieval monastery in the Italian Riviera town of Portofino in June 2007, between the births of their two sons.

Rod also has six other children from previous relationships and in August the whole extended family enjoyed a group trip to Hawaii.
