Sting and Trudie Styler cosy up on the red carpet at Sinatra Gala... as daughter Eliot Sumner comes out as gay

Their daughter has opened up about her love life this week.

But on Thursday night Sting and Trudie Styler were the ones showing off their long-term romance, as they cosied up on the red carpet at the star-studded Sinatra: Voice for A Century event at the Lincoln Center, New York.

The couple coordinated in black for the music extravaganza, days after their 25-year-old daughter Eliot Sumner revealed that she is happily in love herself with Austrian model Lucie Von Alten.

Trudie, 61, looked sensational in a stunning floor-length black gown with a full skirt.

The glam number was nipped in at the waist to show off her svelte figure, while the film producer added a touch of bronzer and glossy lip to highlight her gorgeous features.

The blonde cuddled up to her musician husband, who was dapper in a dark suit and spot tie.

Sting was one of many star performers at the SInatra gala, taking to the stage alongside the acclaimed NY Philharmonic orchestra.

The evening was echoing with tunes sung by the late great Frank Sinatra at the event to celebrate what would have been his 100th birthday as well as raise funds for the new David Geffen Hall.

Sting and Trudie's daughter Eliot meanwhile is preparing for her musical comeback next year.

Speaking to The Evening Standard's ES magazine this week, the 25-year-old opened up about her new music as well as her personal life as she explained that she has never had to come out to anybody before because 'no one ever asked'.

Speaking of her famous parents' reaction to her being gay, she said: 'They knew already. So I didn't need to. I've never come out to anyone. My friends always knew and I always knew.'

Eliot - who previously went by the name Coco - added that she doesn't particularly identify with either gender, and that she sees herself as merely a 'musician'.

'I don't believe in any specifications. I think forever I was trying to figure out maybe... what I am,' she added. 'But I don't think anyone should feel pressured to have any kind of label or tag on them.

Eliot has followed in the footsteps of her famous father, creating music and becoming a success in her own right.

The talented star, who sings and plays guitar and has supported the likes of Lykke Li and La Roux - released her debut album in 2010 under the guise I Blame Coco, but her follow-up - set for release next year - will be under her own name.

Earlier this year, she unveiled her Early Reflections SMPLR EP, featuring her electronic-inspired single Species, and some of the tracks on her forthcoming record have been written with girlfriend Lucie in mind.

The couple, who have gone relatively under the radar for the past two years, live together in London's upmarket Belgravia.

Eliot, who looks the spitting image of her famous father, is one of the rocker's four children with Trudie, the second youngest alongside sister Brigitte Michael, 31, brother Jake, 30 and 19-year-old brother Giacomo Luke.

She also has two half-siblings from Sting's first marriage to actress Frances Tomelty - brother Joseph, 39, and sister Fuchsia Katherine, 33.

And it seems that Eliot's low-key yet seemingly strong love life is something she has gained from her parents, who have been married for 23 years, one of the longest showbiz marriages of their generation.

Speaking to MailOnline earlier this year, the 64-year-old former Police frontman said of their strong relationship: 'There's no secret, we're just lucky. We like each other actually. I don't know how we stay so connected, we just are.'

Trudie, 61, added: 'We will still see a lot of one another. It's something we're so used to. It works like that.'

Eliot is set to release her second album Information on January 22 and she recently unveiled her new video After Dark on YouTube.
